Yes, there have been a few threads discussing his future at the club.

Opinions seem to be split on him.

I thought i'd watch him a bit more this year before commenting.

    Well i have seen enough.

    This kid has got it.

His support play is immaculate, as well as his positioning at the back. His pace and acceleration is something we are dearly missing and he would wreak havoc toward the end of the half when the big boys get tired. Fantastic footwork and awareness, he can really find the line or set-up team mates off breaks.

He has a few weaknesses which can be rubbed out without a problem. His size can get fixed as he matures a bit more. He gets bumped off at times, but again, with size that will improve. Tries to push the play a bit too much, but that's a by-product of playing at Newtown. Hell, SKD has been doing this for years in grade.

Forget Dugan ( caught by Perret LOL ) or Gardner(identical player to Towers minus the footwork). Keep this kid and let him serve an apprenticeship while Mini is here, then bring him up.

With our style of play, he will flourish with his pace.

Is he in our top 25 ? Or just contracted to Newtown?

Big Mike on the roosters home page he is listed in the 25 man sqaud and everything you said is correct great little player and would love to see him play for the chooks when mini retires and he should be around the first grade team taking some pointers from mini just to hear and see what its all about mini would be a great man to learn a few things about fullback former golden boot winner
    We are the Fonk

Quality player, dissappointing that he can't get a crack in first grade (although i won't complain about the way mini has been playing lately.) He is named in the Roosters squad on the website from the start of the year so i assume he is in the 25, will be dissappointing if he does head to European Rugby.

i watched that yesterday as well and it simply confirmed my opinion. he literally has it all - awesome speed and acceleration - imo he has the running game of mini in his prime - bounce out of tackles, excellent support play and acceleration and if anything is probably a touch quicker than what mini was which is positive. As i have said, he has also played a fair bit of halves so has good ball playing abilities which makes him the perfect fit for the modern day fullback which requires more than speed, support play and good kick returns, it also requires this playmaking ability which he certainly has. I agree he can be a little error proned etc but he is an excitment machine and running off pearce and carney he could be anything.

Keanu TE kiri who played sg ball is another excellent young fullback we have coming through and you can pretty much match the description of towers to him - a bit on the small side but great support play, lightning quick and extremely evasive. He too played a fair bit of halves in the sg ball side this year which simply adds another string to his bow primarily because we had 2 aust schoolboy reps and freaks in their own right henare wells and cheyse blair at times playing at fullback and being the most versatile/youngest of the three (only 17 this year) he was the one moved into the halves to partner miller. Throw in schoolboy and NSW reps in moga and fine in the centres and that is an unbelievable sg ball backline when you throw in the kids we have in and around first grade already like linnett, j carney for next year, SKD, Pez and then players like Moeakiola and Kherrillah who are just that bit older but have also shown great potential we have some real talent to be developed in the outside back ranks and forwards alike

Towers impressed me when watching the NSW Cup game shown on Fox Sports yesterday. He is a great little player and his support play is fantastic. He has good ball skills and creates havoc when playing in and around the ruck. He has really matured since playing NYC last season and he is developing quite nicely. I'd give him one more year in Newtown as Minichiello is playing very well, but I'd like to see him take over the fullback spot in 2012 when Minichiello is gone.

Another player who has been impressive in NSW Cup is Tu'u Maori. Why isn't this guy at least in the NRL training squad? He has fantastic footwork, great spatial awareness and also has a very good offload. He made Nick Emmett from the Dragons look second rate last weekend. Very good player who we should be looking at for next year.

I am very impressed by this guy also, be surprised if another club doesn't offer him a first grade gig for next season, he's kinda like Junior Sau but leaner and faster.

As for Luke Towers.....I really really like him, he's clearly bulked up since his NYC days and has every attribute you would want from a modern day fullback - again I'll be surprised if we can keep him as surely he has been scouted and will be offered a first grade gig before we can.

If we had bought Dugan, Towers would be gone. The fact that we have kept Mini for another year would be a good sign for Towers. Hopefully he is patient enought to continue to develop his game and physical size until the time is right and the spot is available for FG.

My mail on Dugan is that we were never in the hunt. His manager said he felt sorry for the Roosters as everyone is linked to them but in reality all we did was make one enquiry. The media played it up so much and they fed off it trying to get a better deal. The only people to come out looking like donkeys over the whole affair were the Furner brothers.

IMO it will be between Towers and Naughton as to who takes over Mini. If both build themselves up it wouldn't surprise me to see Towers at fullback and Naughton on the wing. Both very talented players but too early for NRL.

Here's hoping he has the patience. Hopefully the club make it clear to him that he is next in line

I think I will trust Dugan's manager more than Buzz and his mates
