Yep. Me too. We've started developing a team from within, and when we have picked someone up to fill a hole they have been talented youngsters or fringe players like Conn who have really developed. It's a really nice feeling. And when we do make that big signing we don't get criticised so much.

LOL! I know what you mean. Our pack has been soft for years - not since the days of Ricko, Moz and Caveman have we had a tough pack. And what's really nice is the big grins that Masoe and JWH give when they knock seven shades of shit out of someone. That's not fake mongrel. That's proper mongrel. Love it!

I would have thought JWH is better suited up the middle.

        Mose Masoe - 21 - 192cm, 115kg
        Lama Tasi - 20 - 188cm, 104kg

That is a pack of frightening size and potential. Imagine if Anasta, Ryles and Conn move on at the end of next season, but these kids all step up...

        8. Masoe
        9. Friend
        10. Kennedy
        11. Nuuausala
        12. Aubusson
        13. Myles

        14. Watts
        15. Cherrington
        16. Hargreaves
        17. Tasi/Arona

We will have giant Isaac Maliota running around at Newtown too, from all accounts.
I'm hoping we can keep the nucleus of the above blokes BUT there's no doubt the vultures will be circling on a few including rising stars Boyd Cordner, Dane Atkinson & Ethan Lowe.
Look at Jacob Miller for example!! Can't keep 'em all i guess.
The Storm were reportedly interested in Kennedy to bolster their front row & The Vermin are hot for Cordner.

I hope Tasi can put a few pounds on in the off season. According to those stats, he is lighter than Myles and FPN - both of whom have now trimmed down and are more accustomed to the back row.

In the last few rounds and semis, Kennedy showed that those few extra kilos (and mindset to match) can make the difference between bending the line and getting sat on you arse....(which FPN did a more than a few times when he ran up the middle).

I would suggest that Tasi might play most of next year for the Jets (as Kennedy and Masoe did in recent years) until he bulks up and develops further.

Next year will be make or break for Cherrington....with that size and those skills all he needs is the attitude to be a star. Hopefully Smith will instill that in him.

Is Miller definitely gone? I heard the rumour about the Tigers, but hadn't seen any confirmation.

And if he recovers fully add Cordner to that mix.

Slow news day, agree with Melon Cordner will be in the mix, he's a different play to all the other young backrowers we've got. Similar to Myles.

FF, he's definetely gone to the Tigers. They offered him more $$$.

Cordner may just end up in the centres, he has every skill, not one dimensional like most young players

Smith knows the top young talent that is at our club so it's been decided that we won't be wasting money on big name recruits anymore so we can make sure we keep the top young players that we want to keep.

I think you will find that we won't lose any of the top young talent that our club really wants to hang onto in the coming years.

I saw a couple of tasi's games late in the year and he does look an excellent prospect.

Cordner - if he has some luck with injuries in the next 2 years - will easily bypass all our forwards, he's that good. Sensational prospect.

And don't worry about cherro - next year isn't make or break for him - he's coming back from a knee recond so don't expect miracles instantly. But smith just loves him along with cordner - rates them both as two of the best young players he's ever seen in his whole career. They just need a bit of luck with injury and some patience - considering our depth now there is no need to rush them

With me at the helm, in a few years time id have our pack looking something more like this:
                        8. Myles
                        9. Friend
                        10. Kennedy
                        11. FPN
                        12. Cordner
                        13. Maubs

                        14. Watts
                        15. JWH
                        16. Cherro/Leilua
                        17. Tasi/Masoe/Arona/Maliota/Conn

The must keep players in our squad are as follows:
outside backs: perrett and SKD - the rest are good but none are really in the pivotal category - linnett is an excellent player but if he or anyone else like carney are offered bigger coin elsewhere, i wouldnt try too hard to keep them as they arent the individually brilliant players that would deserve such pay packets unless of course they develop into players in that category
hooker/halves: pearce, carney, friend - the utility spot on the bench i am happy to see rotate into the future between some of the younger kids coming through but there is no need to spend big coin on a replacement hooker when youve got friend, a future rep player that can even go the 80
Backrow: Cornder, Maubs, Leilua - these 3 are the cream of the crop. yes cherrington and co are good but these three are easily the best and most important to our pack going forward
Frontrow: Myles, JWH, Kennedy -these 3 similarly are the cream of the crop and most important - all must keeps

the list i have compiled above of 11 players are the genuine must-keeps in our side going forward. although there are notable and highly able players left off it, these guys are the ones that we can build a dynasty around. although some of the others would be losses, these guys should all be kept at all costs imo. I would love for us to be able to beef that list up to 12 once we find that long-term replacement for miniciello at fullback. It will then be 12 must-keeps which is perfect - a permanent 1, 6, 7, 9; full complement of forwards and a couple of outside backs. the rest of the spots can be filled by whatever else we can manage to fit in/afford

oh and on tasi, he is a great young player with plenty of potential but lets not get too excited about this whole being better than JWH business. He is very good and could easily be an outstanding rep player/future superstar but JWH is awesome and his ability should not be underestimated. his year was affected a bit by injury which didnt allow him to play any consistent footy but in a couple of his better games, he was truly damaging and rampaging. he along with kennedy and myles will be and are the core of our frontrow going forward

Yeh I too am getting a little paranoid about this Shagger... the club don't announce a lot of signings & re-signings. I mean they never announced the Carney signing so I'm hoping it's just a case of marketing living up to their unfortunate reputation.

All reports are that he doesn't want to go anywhere and Smith has been quoted saying how good he will be for us next year but at the end of the day... still nothing official!

I'm not sold on Myles as a front rower yet Roz, his best performances in the Red, white & Blue were without a doubt in the backrow. He's lost the weight and is by far and away our best forward so I'd let him play where he feels most comfortable.
