  • Scott Murray out - New U20's coach sought

The Roosters are on the lookout for a replacement U20's coach for 2011.

As widely expected, coach Murray's tenure has come to an end.

My tip to replace him is Adam Hartigan - the successful 2010 SG Ball coach.

Murray staying at the club? Lots of people seemed to have a good wrap on him.

      New coach sought....

Taylor to coach Roosters NYC Team
      19/10/2010 1:00:00 PM
The Sydney Roosters are delighted to announce that Jason Taylor will be the National Youth Competition coach for the Club for the 2011 season.

Taylor will bring his first grade coaching experience to the young team and work with the senior coaching staff to continue to create a pathway to the NRL.

Having previously played under Brian Smith, Taylor will use his close working relationship with the coach to assist in creating a team of young players that will ably fit into the NRL mould.

Taylor will also continue to work with the NRL team as kicking coach, something he has been doing throughout 2010.

“Jason has been a valuable asset to the Roosters in 2010 and we are excited about his appointment for 2011,” said CEO Steve Noyce.

“With his previous coaching experience we are confident Jason can take the young players and turn them into a successful team that follows the culture of this Club.”

Taylor too is excited about the opportunity to join the Sydney Roosters full time.

“I was delighted to be offered this opportunity and am excited to be taking on the challenge of coaching again,” said Taylor.

“There is something special happening at the Sydney Roosters and to be a part of that will be fantastic.

“We have a great group of young players here and I am looking forward to working with them and leading them into the 2011 season.”

The National Youth Competition players will return to training in early November.

Good appointment. Taylor is already a familiar face at the club.
Hopefully he develops the apprentices into master tradesman

Scott's exit was always going to happen. Wherever Brian Smith goes he always rewards loyalty by taking on ex-players under his wing. You only have to look at Trent Robinson (Parra days) & now Costigan (nee Pearson @ Saints).

Looking through the NYC, JT would have to be the most qualified and experienced coach going around. Would certainly appeal to me as an up 'n comer being wooed to the club. Because of our much publicised lack of juniors, we need to be strong from the grassroots up and 2010 proved we are doing well to achieve this. We came within a whisker of winning the club championship.

I've never been a fan of JT but the past is the past and all that matters to us diehards is pride & success in the RWB guernsey.

Welcome aboard JT & the very best of luck

precisely my sentiments. what he did with that souths side shows that the bloke has ability and as you said, he has coached well at the highest level so i cant think of a better person to have on board. hopefully down the track the likes of morely, fitzy and even freddy can re-enter the fray on the staff in some capacity as it is through things such as this that strengthens the core values, pride and morale around the club. good signing for sure - look past personal distastes primarily stemming from his tenure at souths and instead evaluate the bloke on his merits. taking that souths team to the finals with such a good defensive record and arguably the worst halves pairing the competition aside form maybe hornby and soward, he must know what he is doing.

just a query, what is happening to scott - where is he going if anywhere? (sorry if this has already been answered)

"schooling arrangements" & close association with Matraville Sports High School once Scott was moved on. Will it continue or will Mr Murray the Sport Headmaster/Arrive Alive Head Coach distance himself and maybe focus his pupils towards Souffs?

Word from the Roosters is that he's going back to teaching.

Sounds like he had no choice.

I am sure the club thinks they will benefit from their decision to appoint the new coach. How many players from Matraville Sports High have really kicked on or look like doing so anyway. I think Cherro came from there but who else? I think its importance is over valued when really most of our recruiting comes elsewhere.
