I would say it is an awesome recruitment.
Whether it's an awesome signing will depend on whether the coaching staff can take him to the next level !
Pretty well said, but does it take rocket science to sign Australian school boy kids? It is not like POS saw something that no one else did. It was likely that it was identified (pretty bloody obvious to me) that we could do with signing a quick young outside back and he was available and has the raw attributes that we are after and we put together a package which was more attractive than anyone else?

I am not just referring to cash but we do have a very good set up at the Roosters and finally in the last couple years have realised that the only success we had in the last 30 odd years was on the back of developing a group of youngsters who had come to the club at an early age alongside a couple marquee players.

I think great recruitment happens when you get the really talented players before they have been part of an NRL club.

Likiliki, Tasi & Fai-Fai Loa are all 20 year olds it was there last year in the NYC they were expected to dominate. Ulugia has still got another 2 years left. Can you at least make a fair comparison no one has said he's ready for first grade ffs what are you not getting?
      Take a chill pill mate.
You are taking this too personal. I said I wasn't excited about the signing. Is that ok with you? I am more excited about signing Tasi. I think he is an awesome signing compared to this bloke. BJ is roughly the same age and he is an awesome player. If you think this kid is an awesome signing then I hope you are right. I can't recall him making an impact on me so I have that right not to wet my pants over the signing. Others whom I respect their judgement have seen him and have questioned his ability. From reading the posts, you and roz are the only ones who think he is an awesome signing. So one more time for the dummies. I am not excited about this signing. You think he is an awesome signing. I hope I am wrong and you are right. Back to the silly season.

I'm sure no one here has watched him play.

Where did you hear about this possible signing?

I have watched every televised NYC game since the start of 2009. Seen this kid play a fair few times actually.

He is quick, very fast actually, but like I said, he isn't big and this could be an issue.

You truly are hardcore Mack! Some of those NYC are tough to sit through with the defence the way it is...

very true but for a fullback i dont think his build is an issue he is already 179cm tall which is already tall enough and at 18, i can see him putting on a few more cms as well. he already weighs 81kgs which is also good for a young kid so with a couple of years he could easily put on up to 10kgs if need be. I too have watched him play a few times and have been very impressed. (mini is 181cm tall and 91kgs; slater is 178cm and 81kgs)

I only just realised that the kid has actually played 2 full seasons of NYC already and he is only 18 - he has 2 to go. here are his stats from both seasons which imo are highly impressive.
                  http://203.166.101.37/NYC/index.html
(for some reason the url wont link to his specific stats pages so just navigate through to NQ 2009 then 2010 and check out his stats)
add to that some impressive articles he has had written about him and his rep regime and i think it is pretty clear that this guy could be a real gem. with henare wells we have 2 of the most talented young fullbacks in the land. throw in young te kiri who although has been playing half, imo he is a top class fullback (thats the 16 year old that had articles about him in the smh a year or 2 ago) and i think that dugan or not, we are looking pretty good for fullbacks post mini. mini just needs to hang in for another couple of seasons and we should be right

Wayne Ulugia is a top player. He is VERY quick and extremely elusive. As has been stated, next year will be his 3rd season in the NYC and I expect him to completely dominate, like Dane Gagai did for the Broncos this season. BUT I have a problem with him being signed as we already have another young gun fullback in Henare Wells. IMO it would be an unnecessary signing as Wells can definitely do the job.

                      Footy,

Henare has got plenty of pace too and is an accomplished winger.
Competition for a top 25 spot is a good problem to have IMO .
