Symonds himself said after round 1 that with Carney coming back it would be understandable if he was the one to make way, and rightly so, one good performance dosen't seal your spot in a team that made the grand final the year before.

There isn't really anything else that Symonds could say. If he showed his disappointment then he would probably risk getting on Smithy's wrong side. But it goes to show his professionalism. Unlike some who spewed for not playing in his normal position or going out to the media crying about not being offered a contract.

We played shockingly last week but we were still in the game with ten to go. I can't help but think whether Symonds being available could have just given us some spark to get us over the line.

But just on this point: while it didn't happen for us last week, we are surely the best team in the comp at pulling games out of the fire. Our side has its weaknesses, but game-breakers in the concluding quarter of a match isn't one of them.

But seriously, it isn't about him. If Piggy continues to disappoint and is replaced, I'd prefer to see another prop than another second-rower anyway.

Since then all I've heard about is his dummy spits + allegations about him being racist. What does he do on the field?

Watching Tahu today and Piggy the past couple of weeks, you realise that six years is a long time. Still, both should improve as they get more footy into their ageing legs.
