I can't believe how bad the coaching is in our u20s even though the team finally snuck in for a win 28/ 22 against a very ordinary west tigers side. Interesting normally the game plan for the lower grades at any club is passed down from the head coach and the lower grade players follow the way first grade side play in their attack and structures, so players get used to the set up if they get called into first grade. This team however does not follow this. It seems our head coach Robbo or the club are not interested, otherwise they would be stepping in and sorting some stuff out.
Makes it worse when I have been with a mate watching his beloved Broncos play and how he tells me Wayne Bennett takes great pride not just in his first grade side but in his u20s team as well, both teams on top on the ladder
This team needs a good 7 which they don't have, the current one shouldn't be in the team. There is no game plan, the game seems to be controlled by some players who are giving instructions only to pass the ball to the left side who then just want to pass it to their mates and hog the ball, it's like watching an u10s game where everyones in it for themselves and not playing as a well structured side and gelling.
They don't play like our well coached first grade side who get the ball out to both sides quite equally in attack but with this 20s team, the ball only gets passed to the left side continuously every week and the right side is starved continuously, the right must as well not turn up as they're not being used, because of this the team are basically playing with only 11 players, which is less strike power outwide for the right side. The other teams are starting to catch on especially heading into the final rounds and they will place extra defence on the left edge
The hooker and halves, all pass to the left, its like follow the leader. As an observer It seems the coach is playing his favourites for positions, instead of picking the right players to play there.
The recent NSW talented hooker Grant Garvey has been on the bench for the last few games and can't even make the starting side, apparently good enough to play for NSW but not good enough for this team ! Hard working forwards Misieli Vaikeli or Sukamanu Raki (he should stay on the field as long as possible instead of being replaced all the time, a damaging runner with the ball and defender) but these players should be there every week and Charlie Taylor wasted on the wing and should be playing centre every week.
I am hearing some players who haven't been giving much of a go this year are not happy at all and are already telling their managers to look for new clubs for next season, the coach looks disinterested to make changes or having a good shot at making the finals
The spine should be
6 Watson
7 Lussick ( if Hastings does not play )
9 Garvey
