The Roosters development sides (U13, U14 and U15) played against Stgeorge last night at Henson and won 2 out of 3 !!!.

The 13s had a great win 30-12, I think maybe more. They played with alot of skill and passion.
The 14s struggled and went down against a very good side.

The 15s was a great RL game, very tight with great defense being the order of the day.
The Roosters won 10-4 in a game that was very exciting.

    Thanks for that KB,

Out of curiosity, where do the nucleus of players come from i.e Brisbane, Penrith?
What was the intention of this game. Do they pick out the better one's for next years HMatts & SG Ball squads?
    Any standouts?

The U13s are all Bondi Utd and Clovelly kids
The U14s are primarily Bondi Utd (1 clovelly boy) and a couple of Glemore Park (penrith) kids
The U15s are Clovelly kids, Glemore Park kids 2 other Penrith area HM boys now playing with Clovelly and a couple of Mt Annan kids.

POS sends some to the U15s to look at for HMs

The U13s had some real standouts across the team, they are a great little team. The halves are very good as are a few of the fowards.
The U15s had a couple of very good players, one of the best the fullback from Glenmore park didn't play (injured) but again just played well as a team

It seems we're still feeding off the juniors Penrith reject. Even with Gould's involvement i suppose they can't keep them all.
Tinirau Arona is a good example. Played U20's and was let go.

The Glemore park kids just don't get a look in at Penrith and thats POS' club, so a relationship was formed.
They are pretty good players and really good kids too.

2 of my son's U14s teammates made the StG team. The StG comp is joined by the Souths and Balmain comps this year

Sorry don't really want to put their names out there.
But 5/8, forward, hooker and centre (fullback too, but he was injured)
                were the kids that played

KB, I'd like to know what support or interest these sides get from the club? Is the junior situation improving at all in your opinion?
Interesting about the Glenmore Park children not getting a look in. I wonder why that is the case. The last thing I'd like to know is if the children from Glenmore Park are proud to wear the RW&B given they are not from the eastern suburbs.

                      LR,
its def getting better. Smith and Noyce are interested which is good.
They recently recruited 2 guys (part time) to do the junior development stuff and they are both very good.
One reason that its improving is that POS has been shown the light, even though we don't have the numbers we have the quality.
Glenmore Park as far as I know have not been around that long and with Penrith all the reps come from only a couple of clubs. Its also POS's orginal club which is why I think the relationship was formed.
Are the GP kids proud to wear the RW&B, you bet. The ones I know are immensely proud to play for Easts

                        KB,

Wiil our alliance with Glenmore Park continue now that Mr " No No No" God, i mean Gould, is mayor of Penrith Rugby League?
From what i can gather he wants to overhaul and improve their juniour nursery. GWS is the enemy!

not sure, but I do know that even though the Penrith are not interested in these kids, they got shitty when they played with the Roosters

Let me help you fill in the gaps KB, this all started from a couple of years back - Glenmore Park ahd a gun second division side in the 12s, at least half a dozen kids tried out for the Penrith development squads and surprisingly to all but the selectors missed the cut, it was no coincidence that the following week 2 of the selectors who also coach St Marys Leagues( the pride and joy of penrith junior league) asking these players to transfer to them the following season as it "would" help their chances of future rep squads.

The parents stuck solid, sent their kids to Easts for trials and it was no surprise they made it, a season later they played the riff in Matts and trounced them by 30 odd, the parents and kids celebrated like it was a Grand Final.

St Marys Leagues Nad Brothers are the golden children of the riff comp, they poach every good kid and win most comps, St Clair, Glenmore Park, Emu Plains all very strong clubs but dont have the pull in reps like the other 2.

Other sides like West Hebo Tigers, and PCYC are small clubs and have their decent players raided every season.

When Carty was at Easts, his old man Don who was and still is a board member at St Marys organised St Marys to be a feeder club for Easts and play as our very own Newtown, it was very close to happening as well, except for a court order from Penrith and a dirty long letter to the NSWRL and NRL about boundries.

For its size, the competition is very poorly organised and with the hefty cut nacks to junior development recently it will only get worse.

I get too alot of Junior games out west and quite often organise for kids to trial for matts and ball, even driving them to Henson for trials.

There are so very good kids out there that dont get a look in, even with Gould there, that will continue
