THE Australian Schoolboys carnival is a family affair.

They might have been representing the new generation in rugby league, but many of the names during the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League Championships had a familiar ring to them.

There were plenty of sons of guns on display with teenage Sironens, Hopoates, Mortimers and Davidsons running around St Marys during the week in a pointer to further rugby league dynasties. It's little wonder that 26 player agents - as well as talent scouts from every NRL club - were there watching.

Among the Catholic boys were Paul Sironen's son Curtis, the captain and pivot already contracted to the Tigers. Jamil Hopoate, son of former Manly star John and brother to Will, was on the wing. George Jennings, the brother of Penrith and Australian three-quarter Michael, was also a part of the back line. The side also included Nathan Aubusson, the younger sibling of NRL players James and Mitchell, and Ben Elias's nephew, Mitchell Moses. The player of the final, Samisoni Langi, is related to former Dragons, Eels and Storm utility Junior Langi.

George Jennings, who followed in the footsteps of Michael by being named in the Australian Schoolboys team, is also contracted to Penrith. And there's younger sibling Robert.

''My brother was 19 when he made his first-grade debut,'' George said. ''I'm thinking, 'that's just one year away [for me]. How did he do it?' My little brother, Robert, played in the CCC under-15s and he made the Schoolboys team, too.''

Some leading managers, including Steve Gillis, David Riolo, Gavin Orr and Alan Gainey, were on hand to watch the final day. Out of the top three sides, comprising 60 players, only 10 of them were not already represented by an agent.

Lyn Aubusson said she was proud of the way her youngest son, Nathan, had performed after overcoming a series of injuries.

''All three of them are footy heads, they have been since they were young kids,'' she said.

''For Nathan, he's watched the other two go through and he's just starting to hit his straps now,'' she said.

Asked which was the most talented, she diplomatically said: ''They're all talented in their own way.''

Curtis Sironen's selection in the national team earned him a place in the sport's history as part of just the third father-son combination to represent the Australian Schoolboys, a feat which has also been achieved by Brett and Robert Finch, and Herb and Ben Rauter, a former Raiders and Cowboys forward.

Lloyd played SG Ball for us this year alongside Brandon Tago.
Others in that squad that have gone up to play NYC include Tau Tau Moga, Clarrie Moore & Tai Tuivasa.
Don't know why some other standouts like Glen Day, Javid Bowen & particularly their player of the year -
Jack Seijka haven't tasted NYC as well. Anyone know why??
