Keeping in mind this shot was premeditated and broke his jaw. It caused Boyd's brother to walk out on the Knights...

Time heals all wounds my ass
Do you realize Boyd's brother went back to the Knights the following season after we released him? Also Ailaomai was not suspended following the tackle on Cordner and to say it was intentional is a big call..

In any case, if he proves a problem, Ailaomai will go. This is a signing in a position where we need quality, and by all reports, he's a good footballer.

To say signing this bloke would negate any positives brought about by the imminent sacking of Carney is ludicrous.
He will be too old for NYC next season.

I agree. Both are older and mature however sentiment doesn't always just wipe away, so to speak. Boyd's dream of representing at
schoolboy level were dashed after that sickening hit which caused a compound jaw fracture.

          Interesting signing.
Does Boyd still hold a grugde?
Lets hope it doesn't end in tears!

Fair enough I retract my comment about it being intentional but you can't deny there was something fishy about it... a player doesn't just up and leave mid-season over an accidental high tackle. The fact that he wasn't charged was a joke. Dane only went back because he couldn't score a contract elsewhere and Newcastle is his home.

Was at the game and the image of Boyd coming off with the amount of blood coming from his mouth is an image that's never left me. Worse than Khunt on Anasta and atleast Khunt had an excuse there....

Not doubting for a second that this guy is a talent I just don't understand releasing a bloke for attitude problems and then signing another who clearly has attitude problems yet with no where near the upside.

I hold Evans in higher regard too and Napa looks like he could handle first grade in a few years too. The signing is bizarre and unnecessary imo.

No worries, it may have been intentional but also may not have and in any case I doubt there was any intention to cause lasting injury regardless.. You would have to think Boyd was at least given a heads up.. If we all remember this incident, you would expect POS and Smith would be aware.

I agree the front row stocks in NYC are good but I think this is a postion that you cannot have too much depth.. The other thing is whilst he has some record, he won't be followed on a daily basis by the media and his incidents have been onfield.. Carney is a classic case sadly of 'damaged' goods and I think the situation is untenable and probably best for all he got a fresh start.

I too was at this game and as with you R6, it is an image I can unfortunately recall with much clarity. As far as I'm concerned that hit on Boyd was sickening and deliberate. Now they sign the scumbag who assaulted Boyd - have management totally lost their marbles? I can only hope that Boyd was asked, purely out of courtesy, how he felt about this signing before it was completed.

Agreed on all points. I am completely amazed by this signing for many reasons, not the least of which is the potential for it to cause Boyd grief.

Ryles, Kennedy, Masoe, Hargreaves, Tasi, Evans, Ailomai and Napa makes up a whole bunch of massive forwards, Napa and Evans look the goods out of our current crop of NYC props (Tago and Tuivasa look a bit too chubby for first grade, and Liu isn't really a genuine prop IMO), Tasi has been outstanding when filling in for Kennedy this year, and Ailomai is very explosive and strong, if a little bit inconsistent.

Mack, strictly speaking, isn't JWH a back rower?

Are you saying because he's been suspended and made a bad tackle he has attitude problems? Or has this guy been in some sort of trouble off the field that you haven't mentioned? If it's the former you must have absolutely detested Adrian Morley.
