  • Jack littlejohn!

I have watched this kid a few times and he looks like a future First grader for mine.
He has captained the u20's since the departure of Lou Goodwin and done an amazing job.
What is everyones opinion of him and do you guys think he can be our replacement for Carney in the next 2 years?

i rate him quite highly. he could play either fullback, centre or 5/8. personally, i think its best position in first grade would be centre because his game isnt quite polished enough to play 5/8 in firsts yet at least - a bit like ben jones for mine (gets away with halves in the lower grades relying on a few other of his qualities but once he hits firsts is found to be only a viable option as a centre or possibly a rake. littlejohn was brought to the club as a centre and has made the transition to 6 because we have the best young centres in the game outside him in blair, moga and rona. if littlejohn wants a future at the roosters however, i suggest he learns to play fullback because centre is a position we have plenty of depth for. That or as a 5/8 and heir to anasta if we happen to let him go but im not sold on whether that is a truly viable option as yet

Thanks for your input Roz,always value your opinon especially on our lower graders as you seem to know alot about these players.
Im looking forward to seeing our lower graders kick on to be future first graders in years to come,i think our most important void to fill will be 5/8th and i cant seem many options apart from JL..
Lets see how it pans out..

Looks a pretty composed player, but does he lack a yard of pace?

          More overhyping of teenagers.

I hope you're right about the young centres. We've always been too weak in that department.

He didn't say he was Dally Messenger - just that he looked like a future first grader. I assume that a high percentage of NYC players will end up playing some first grade. What's wrong with talking about these young players?

Good running game and a much more accomplished half than Roz gives him credit for imo, his kicking game rivals that of Jacks. If Pearce is our long term halfback which seems certain then he's best complimented by a running 5/8 (which is why he and Carney made such an awesome combo). Littlejohn is certainly this so I think his future is in the halves, he never really impressed me at fullback.

This is his last year so will be interesting to see what happens, he's a better 5/8 than both Ford and Kheriliah imo.

Not sure where i have over hyped the kid??
More like over hoping the kid could eventually be a future no.6 for our Club!
Im not looking forward to Braith being our 5/8th over the next couple of years,i need more hope that our Club has a succession plan in place..

Lydon I don't think you have overhyped him but I see what Melon means. How many guys did we see make their debuts this year only to be written off after one or two games? I agree with you about Anasta though. I'd rather hope some develops than have to watch him screw us for another year or two.

Yeh i know what you mean..
If you look at a team like Manly though, players like Cherry-Evans,Buher,Lussick,Hopate,Oldfield have all been promoted from the 20's all with considerable success!
Im sure we can do the same..
In regards to Anasta,i cant get excited about next year knowing he will be our 5/8th

Didn't Cherry-Evans have a year in Qld Cup last season as a learning curve between NYC and first grade?

                          NC
Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

He did, although it's a much better competition than NSW Cup.

He captained the side and was name rookie of the year & player of the year.
