  • NYC boys equal record for most consecutive wins

well done to the NYC boys, friday nights win against the Eels equals the longest winning streak in NYC history, must say Jason Taylor has worked wonders with these kids, they are playing a great brand of football at the moment, firstly establishing dominance in the middle and then spinning the ball wide to our go to men in Moga/Alofa Alofa and Rona.

looks like we will now either travel to Melbourne in the first week of the finals or stay in Sydney and face the Sharks, our fate now rests on the result of the Sharks vs Tigers match and to a lessor extent US vs the Storm, if the Sharks lose we stay in Sydney, if we lose we stay in Sydney, if We win and Sharks win we travel to Melbourne.

I wonder if we will rest a few players this weekend and cop the loss to the Storm so we get to stay in Sydney for the first week of the finals, I guess a lot will depend on the Moga spear tackle and injuries to Evans/O'Sullivan/Bernstrom/Taripo as to whether we go all out for a win.

whatever happens for the rest of the season it has been extremely enjoyable watching the development of our future possible stars, and at least goes some way to make up for the horror year for the club in the top grade.

The 20's don't have home games in the finals.

If we finish 4th or 5th we will play where the NRL 4th and 5th teams play.

Looking at NRL table I expect us to be playing in Sydney on the Friday night.

I thought they usually try and match the NYC sides with the first grade where possible

would be great if we play in Sydney on friday night, but I get the feeling if we are playing the Storm it will be matched up with first grade and we will be travelling to Melbourne, likely to be next Sunday.

I didn't think they could do that because of the McIntyre system.

I mean if the game 4th v 5th is played last it could be a dead rubber, that would be silly for a finals game.

This is correct, Souths (1st) ended up playing the Titans (8th) on the Gold Coast before the Titans final on a Friday night, Cowboys (4th) had to play Easts (5th) at the SFS etc. There were quite a few complaints about the system but I believe it remains in place.

That's right they did change it for the Souths v Titans game last year.

We finished 6th last year so that fixture just mirrored the NRL.

But as I said before the 4th v 5th game can't be played last.

Looking at NRL ladder I think we will most likely play on the Friday or Saturday in Sydney.

Actually it can and has, 1v8 and 2v7 played their finals before 3v6 and 4v5 in 2008. The NYC finals are scheduled on logistics first, they don't care about how farcical that potentially makes the remaining finals if 1 and 2 win. (and both did win in 2008)

                  I stand corrected then.

I didn't think the NRL was that stupid.

That's the one positive of playing the last game of the round. We can potentially be in a position to determine who we rest or play etc heading into the finals.
