    Henson Park
    Meet the players
NSW Cup ladder [end of last round]
    2011 encounters

Newtown played Wentworthville in rounds 13 and 22 of the home & away season.
Both games ended in very close scores, with the Jets getting away to a 2 point victory in Round 13 but having to settle for a high-scoring draw four weeks ago in Round 22.
Coincidentally, the Newtown Jets played the Wenworthville Magpies in this corresponding game in 2010 and came away victors, 32-28, another closely fought victory.
Both teams have everything to play for in this qualifying final given that lower teams on the ladder are finishing strongly and could easily win against teams 1, 2 or 3.
Be there to support the Mighty Jets.

Jets down 17-0 at half time. Were pretty hopeless for all but the last 10 mins of the first half. Could have been 16 all at the break after a mataka break but he couldn't find support and had the ball stripped after breaking about 6 tackles (legal??), then the pies went down and kicked a fg on the buzzer. Maliota, Verlinden, Latu and Lazarus have been our best. Doesn't look like Taka is playing so that would have hurt their chances. He would have dominated this defence. Oh the ref is very close to the worst I've seen. One set Wenty were all standing 5 metres in front of him and he turned a blind eye each tackle.

Jets down 17 to 10 at halftime.

Takairangi and Pritchard out of the selected side.

Newtown 20-17 kick to come from sideline after a Mataka try (put down very iffy)

Blake Lazarus. There's your goalkicker! 22-17 Jets.

Now up 34-21. Converted try by Ford set up brilliantly by Lazarus. It's a shame no other half will get a look in at the roosters til 2013 because our captain's only half decent position is 6.

Full-time Jets won 34-29. Lazarus, Deeb and Latu the best.

Lazarus might be a future 5/8th option for the Club, and a goalkicker to boot.
Not sure of his age,but maybe the Club could be looking to him as an option?!
Sounds like he had a good game!

Lazarus is 23 years old. Quite a good young player but in my opinion we should go for someone with a bit more flair

He has more flair in his right butt cheek, than our current no.7
