Here here. The boys tried their guts out last night but they had no luck whatsoever and I thought a few individuals let them down. The decision to bring Taripo back before he was at full fitness went against them big time. And the loss was Liu, one of the few senior forwards, really hurt them and was probably the reason Tuivasa got a run after his shocker last week. Next year will be interesting. While a lot will play on next year they will lose a couple of key players like Evans and Moga that are still eligible but will be playing either firsts or newtown on a regular basis.

For those saying Moga won't make it in firsts on last night's performance you obviously don't understand footy one bit. Our forwards got dominated the entire game last night with only a bit of respite when Evans came back on in the 2nd half. You can't just throw Moga the ball coming off your own line on the back foot. The few times he did get the ball late in the count I thought he still looked dangerous considering. If the first grade forwards continue their form through to next season and Anasta and Pearce can get him early and deep ball when the opposition is retreating the kid will carve teams up. He's 105 kg and 192 cm so he'd have most NRL edge second rowers let alone centres covered in terms of strength one on one.

Finally, I thought Cheyse Blair had a very good game and those still bagging him obviously don't know how to lose a grudge. His defence last night with O'Sullivan was immense. I don't know how it came across on TV but his lateral speed was allowing him to commit late to a player and still be effective. You could tell O'Sullivan trusted him every time they went left. His reading of plays and tackling technique is a lot better than SKD's. And for mine any questions regarding his attitude were dispelled on last nights online defensive performance.

They did better than the firsts.

Praising Jason Taylor makes me want to vomit a little but the guy is a bloody good coach.

Disappointing loss from the boys but the real measure of success will be how many first graders we produce.

Evans and Moga are definite first graders. Dumbrell, Atkinson and Tago look promising as well.

im yet to watch the game but good feedback. cheers yak. on blair, i also think he still has something to offer. the 20s is a funny thing. when you look at guys like mcguire and kennedy to cite 2 examples, you have guys that failed to standout and live up to their massive reputations but have since gone on to be top draw forwards at first grade level.

now of course playing well at 20s is a better indication of ability at the top level than not and whilst everyone that dominates in the 20s isnt cut out for firsts, for guys who have the natural ability like blair, with a strong training regime, some good coaching, some consistent footy and confidence, his immense natural talent can only shine. williamson didnt have it in him, i feel as though blair may. i see blair as a winger in first grade at least for the first few years. his athleticism, speed and aerial work puts him in the duffie category for mine. our left edge (winger/centre) is a 3 horse race for mine over the next few years - tagive, blair and moga. 3 guys who have had among the biggest raps possible coming through the grades who with a bit of luck could be massive for us. with leilua into his rightful position in the backrow, we have some serious attacking weapons. what we are lacking though is a replacement for mini and braith. there are a few kids coming through the grades (alofa, littlejohn, kherrilah) who could do the job in either role but i think we need to recruit in both of these positions.

for fullback, i would be looking for a young kid looking for an opportunity who can play 20s or newtown/wing in first grade for a bit next year before moving to fullback when mini retires. evander cummins and slaimankhel are top of my list if we are looking for blokes still eligible for 20s next year. an equally good candidate would be gagai. although not elegible for 20s next year, he can play wing comfortably and has all the skills of a modern day fullback. all of these kids are not only my top picks, but behind a few at their current clubs and with the money we have with carney and myles leaving and mini, ryles and braith close behind getting them should not be an issue.

the 5/8 replacements has been done to death but i would be looking for youth. tuimavave, mcgahan, kelly, norman, rankin, miller are the ones i would be looking most closely at.

                Kidding right?

Mcguire used to average about 200 metres a game, Kennedy 150+
