Will be interesting to see how they structure the trial team against the bulldogs. Minichiello will most likely not play and I'd imagine they'll test out both Alofa and Wells for a half each. Guys like Tagive and Henry should have close to full games to show what they've got. I'm hoping RTS is given a go in the first grade trial at some point even though it will most likely be in the centres. I think in the corresponding game last year we played Littlejohn and Kheirallah in the halves. So it will probably be Littlejohn and Mortimer this year. Looking forward to seeing how Evans goes against first graders as well. Got high hopes for this kid, and looking at the injury concerns we have at prop we may be relying on him breaking into first grade at some stage.

These trials should give us some indication if our seemingly abundant depth is actually quality as well. Can't wait!!!

Totally agree with your assessment of his defensive ability. Most reliable and solid defender I've seen in a long time at that age. Adam Brent is a more than adequate lock replacement but Dane will certainly be missed sorely. Do you know if he is contracted past this year? With the wealth of good backrowers we have at the moment he could be the forgotten man.
Health related issue. I wish him well and sincerely hope he returns to f/time footy in the near future.

The only thing that's holding Wells back is a few defensive issues under the high ball and his tackling technique.

People need to get over size, it's something that's easily gained or lost... skill and ability is natural talent that can't be gained anywhere near as easily if at all.
So he will be in FG playing FB in Rd 1 then???

        Bah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahaha

The best FB at the club & the guy has not even made it to first grade.

        Bah hahahahahahahahahaHAH

He's a lot better all round player than James Roberts if we're talking about their qualities as a fullback. The only reason he made first grade last year was because Fetuli Talanoa was only other winger they had. Does not say a lot for him really. And I'm pretty sure R6 was referring to fullbacks still eligible for 20s when he said young not 22 year olds that are 3 years ahead of Wells.

IMO Wells will never make FG, & I doubt Sheck will either.
Sheck is probably better off trying to play 5/8.
So an opinion and bullshit are mutually exclusive? What a load of crap.

Of course someone's opinion can be wrong, did mummy tell you otherwise?

I doubt it, Mini is held in way too high regard by the coaching staff to ever be dropped.

Sorry I should have clarified further, players in the under 20's. James Roberts is average, Ulugia & Gagai would've been far better examples if you wanted to make and argument.

Actually, James Roberts has played first grade.

He was still playing 20's though and is still eligible.

Put it this way if Mini was to get injured Perrett would be next in line. If they were both injured Mortimer would be played there or Kheirallah so I would say that makes him 5th best at the club.
