Anyone have figures on our junior development and in particular growth in our junior base?

Considering Maroubra is affiliated with Souths Juniors (which has no official affiliation with Souths Rugby League Club) then their (Souths Rugby League Club) exit from the NRL actually didn't give us the opportunity to get back or gain any junior clubs.

If we are to ever get back our old clubs that are still in Eastern Suburbs territory we need to start up our own junior league, despite a vote 2 years ago there hasn't been much of a push for this however, certainly not from the club which is a little disappointing. However the gap isn't as far as many think...

May 5th 1954 the NSWRL board, at the time heavily laden with ex Souff Sydney players, re-defined the junior areas of the Eastern suburbs effectively handing Souff Sydney 3/4's of the then Tricolurs junior area. Getting anyone that work's for, is associated with or followers Souff Sydney to admit that is like getting a right winger to admit they are wrong...about anything.

It doesn't help that idiots in the media like Ray Warren, Voss etc perpetuate the myth by paying out on our supposed lack of juniors and glorifying Souffs 'magnificent' junior talent pool. Pride of the league and all that crap!! Makes me want to throw up. If only these fools took the time to explain the true history.. but then everyone loves Souff Sydney don't they!

You're not wrong KB. I remember trying to educate one deluded fool (an ex-player as a matter of fact ... actually more like an ex-junior as he never made much of it in first grade) at Malabar RSL one night. I seriously spent over an hour trying to explain the act of thievery in the 50s to this clown but i seriously doubt anything could penetrate the solid bone in this idiot's head. In the end, this idiot started to turn into an arsehole so me and my mate decided to sit somewhere else. But he followed us and then learned the hard way ... just one punch and it was lights out lol. It felt good too, almost like I got revenge almost for Braith vs Farkendrongo . The best part was that the manager was watching the whole time and said well done as he was a bit of a serial pest at the club. The moron woke up outside while I got to stay in peace for the night lol.

I have some great friends that are $ouffs supporters (and good people) but I rarely broach the subject of RL with them, it just isn't worth it. Its part pity because $ouffs are crap and part "I want to remain your friend" but know you are absolutely blinkered and don't understand RL exists outside of $ouffs.
It really is the case with many $ouffs supporters that you can't have the jovial laugh about each other's team that you can with supporters of other clubs.


Changing the tact a bit, a couple of years ago Clovelly Crocs was the fasting growing sporting club in Australia, in any sport.
Also while bagging $ouffs and their supporters, I will say that Souths juniors have some fantastic people working there and do a great job.

Couldnt agree more - the media fools who continue to bag our crowds and juniors are either clueless or have an agenda.

Either way they feed the suggestible minds of other league fans and we bear the brunt of it.

A bit of perspective on the 'thievery' argument. I have seen the various minute books of that time and the problem was that Easts refused to develop their junior base and so the NSWRL then handed that area over to Souths who had a track record of devloping juniors.

There have been plenty of mistakes made by Easts in regards to their juniors, but there has been manipulation of the history regarding the change by Souths.
While Noyce at the helm at the Roosters the juniors will be looked after much better
