  • easts youngsters

lots of posts latley about tau tau moga and roger sheck as to how they will handle the step up to first grade its not about age its all about talent and these two in my opinion are two of the best prospects that the club has had in decades Now im not comparing these kids to the following players nor am i saying that they will be as good as them merely an example that age does not matter that much. Our arguably greatest player the bradman of league dave brown joined easts straight out of school, played a few games in reserves then into firsts and captained the first grade side whilst still a teenager.Ray Sther was 16 years old when he debuted for easts. My only worry about these two youngsters is that we will be abe to hang on to them.

like the rest of us i havnt seen a lot of scheck.Ive just got a feeling this kid might be special. Its a very hard task to go straight from schoolboy football to training with a first grade side.Im hearing that the experienced first graders opposing him in the defensive line had a lot of trouble handling his swerve and step he is very hard to contain by all accounts but time will tell.Says a lot though that he has been training with the first grade side before he has even played a game in the under 20s cant remember that happening in recent times.

not to mention the fact that he is also coming from union and has played no rugby league ever. we saw with our safa imports that the transition from union to firsts can take time. The fact that he seems to have such a good head on his shoulders (school captain and the rest) suggests that he has the highest possible chance of success imo. See the reason why those young superstars that dont convert dont make it imo is all mental. Williamson for example got homesick and decided that he couldnt handle the top flight footy lifestyle. That doesnt mean he didnt have the ability to play first grade and set the world alight, just means that he didnt have the mental toughness to cut it. this is not a question of ability but instead, mental toughness

Tuivasa-Sheck was captain of his school's league team as well so he has played league before. Let's see if he impresses in our first trial against a few genuine first graders then we might have a slightly better idea of where he's at.

I reckon it's safe to say that no one on this site has seen him play even 1 game. A minute on You Tube doesn't count.

RTS really does have all the signs of being the next Williamson/Du Plesis. Moga I'm less worried about, he's at least dominated over a period of time in a rugby league competition against the other best youngsters going around.

I think this is true. I have never seen him but am excited nonetheless. We have all bought the hype but lets give him a few months in NYC and see. Sometimes the hype is real.
