It seems our U20's team is offering more FGers than the Jets?

I look at our Jets squad...from our NYC team last year, Rohan Ahern, Matthew Hall, Stanley Waqa and Tu'u Maori moved up into the Jets, while Hala Laula (Souths NYC), Scott Jones (Warriors NYC), Liam Foran (Storm NYC via Auckland Vulcans), Sonny Tuigamala (Panthers NYC), Luke Letele and Luke Hume (both Sharks NYC players) all signed on from other clubs. Ray Moujalli, Jimmy Anderson, Khalid Deeb, Don Thompson, Sean Rudder, Daniel Green and Tyrone Shelley all remain from last year, while Smith Samau, Iwi Hauraki, Ryan Millard, Nick Kouparitsas, Kyle Lodge and Chris Tuatura are all notable players who have been drifting around QLD Cup and NSW Cup aimlessly, finding spots in the team.

None of these players seem to be consistently pushing for first grade unless they are contracted to Roosters directly, which leads me to think, is NSW Cup almost a graveyard for midrange players? If you are over 20 and not a regular firstgrader, the new system gives very little motivation for anyone to continue playing football...

I guess there's just a big gap between playing for the Jets and playing for the NRL. It's unfortunate that right now the Jets aren't winning games, so I guess we can't really justify promoting players from an unsuccessful NSW Cup team into a struggling NRL team?

It's sad really that right now the Roosters are losing at all levels (NRL, juniors and feeding clubs) tells me there's something rotten happening right from the core.

The sooner the club gets rid of Newtown the better.

The slide in our talent pool and development has come with the Newtown partnership and changes in the club's feeder structure. They are a pub side, and looks like our firsts are also now a pub side. Not a direct result but i, like Cogburn beleiev there was never any value partnering with Newtown.

The problem is that NSWRL Premier League is a pub league. It is not a patch on the standard of Qld Cup and needs to be fixed.

If i were the Roosters i would be looking at all the Qld Cup teams to see which one was available to be a true feeder club. The Qld Cup is a great comp and worked wonders for teh Storm and Broncos.

If only we had kept ties with teh Dolphins we could have made it a proper feeder arrangement. Oh and also if we actually put some effort into the relationship as well

The system also doesn't allow footballers to mature, harden up, so to speak. We've had the discussion before but the ARL or NSWRL, in particular, needs to come up with a formula that works. Even if they go back to the original 12 sydney teams as a comp and pump enough money into country football to get 2 or 3 strong Group comps that can include Newcastle, Canberra and possibly Melbourne.

This needs to be supported by the removal of the junior boundaries and put all the juniors into a draft system, where they get allocated to the clubs evenly. This whole pallaver (is that a word???) about Penrith having a million juniors and other clubs have bugger all is undermining the development of the game. The fact Penrith, Parra and the Broncos just stockpile juniors in their comps is as destructive as all the shifty back room deals and overseas transactions that are now prevalent in the game. In fact, I would go as far as to say one encourages the other.

If all kids belong to the ARL and then the clubs form an orderly queue for an equitable distribution of the juniors then surely it has to be better for everyone.

It's not good for the game overall and ultimately manifests itself in the NRL player market.

In relation to the guys in your list, Koups has the ability and I expected that with a new start should have made more of the opportunity. Ryan Millard has looked promising for some time, so ... I don't know. Chris Tuatara couldn't hack the training at the Bulldogs under Scott Campbell and left. Can't see him playing NRL.

I'm always suspicious of guys that don't settle at one club and move around, so called "journeymen".

Adam Peek was a journeyman, but he was always a good, whole-hearted player. It is just that he didn't really have the talent to make it big with any club in particular.

I was very happy when we had Redcliffe as afeeder club. The prospects were far better. I was hoping we could pick up the Barba boy, we wouldnt have centre issues now.

The QLD cup is a statewide competition.

The main issue with the NSW cup is that it is competing with the Jim Beam Cup, and is, mainly, concentrated around Sydney. So the talent is diluted across a lot more teams. It's a glorified A-Grade competition.

I do not agree that this system is beneficial at all. All I see, is players over the age of 20 who are outstanding in the U20 competition, such as Robert Worsely, Tohi Leha, Mason Pure, Isaac John, Daniel O'Regan, Upu Poching, Ryan Carr, Javarn White, Stanley Waqa, Ben Barba, John Kite, Lucas Miller, Liam Foran, Tu'u Maori, Dave Tyrell, Junior Tia Kilifi, and Tim Robinson...they are all floating around park footy with feeder clubs, without much aim. It would be very frustrating...

So can you blame a second tier player from taking the cash and playing in the UK, even if it is in the second division? Guys like Ben Barba are really struggling. Last year he was playing NYC and in front of the faithful. So people would be pumping up his tyres and making him feel good about himself. Now he is out of sight out of mind.

Another two examples are Bulldogs prop Robert Worsely, and Sharks prop Tohi Leha. Both of these players were, after Packer and Tolman, the best props in the NYC last year. However, both are now drifting aimlessly between NSW Cup and Bundy Cup. Andrew Edwards (Raiders) features for Souths Logan, Jamie Theoharous is playing in the second-tier comp in England I believe.

It is not a good situation at all.
