  • Under 20's

I watched the last two under 20's games in full and I have to say the two young front rowers Kane Evans and Dylan Napa are absolutely outstanding. I love how they work together as a team, with short passes to each other. Both are very tough as well and brutal in defence. They have both got first grade written all over them.

The new fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is a likely looking customer as well. His footwork and passing game are astounding. He just needs to learn how to get himself more involved in the game. Someone should whisper in his ear to trail his front rowers whenever they take the ball up. I think this guy will develop nicely as the year grows older, seems to be switched on, unlike some of our first graders.

Bench front-rower Tai Tuivasa is one big unit. He had a great game last week against Penrith but seemed to push the pass a bit this week. His skills and footwork are quite amazing for a very big man (must be at least 125kg). Obviously, would need to shed some weight to make a go at first grade but he is a joy to watch coming off the bench.

Have you seen Tago play? Marty thinks he is the next big thing out of the 20s.
Not sure how long he is out for but put on some monster hits in the trials.

Hasn't Tago been getting named on their extended benches the last couple of weeks? I suppose that could still mean he's been given up until kick off to prove his fitness, but I'm pretty sure it's been for the last 2 weeks, happy to be corrected.

Even our current gimps looked like legends in the 20s.

Doesn't translate to 1st grade very often, playing against men.

IMO it's the reason we need to go back to 3 grades ASAP. There's nowhere for the late developers to develop and learn their game against hardened men.

IMO it's the reason we see such crazy swings in results weekly in 1st grade, lack of true depth at most clubs.

Of course those with QLD cup affiliations are mostly exempt from this. They have a great breeding farm in QLD, their lower structures are fantastic. Look at a Cherry Evans as an example, 22 last year when he debuts, he'd have been lost in the NSW cup.

        You know it makes sense.

I am really looking forward to seeing how Evans goes in the top grade when he gets his chance. I think he would be a better long term option than Masoe who really has been pretty ordinary so far. Not sure if he's still carrying his neck injury or not. But I like the look of Evans and front row is a position we seem to lack depth in.

It's a shame FPN is too old for Under 20s cause that's about his standard!
He must be holding something over Smith cause he just keeps on getting picked....

I watched Mose play under 20's and he was far from outstanding. Kennedy went ok but again not outstanding. Hargreaves and Tasi were both solid in the 20's. At the same age Evans and Napa look better. But your right no guarantee of first grade success.

Who had the vision to go down the short side and create space for SKD for the match winning try ? It was FPN You were probably not watching being to busy giving your pearls of wisdom to whoever will listen

As for the 20s side have not seen any of their games so far this year But will try and make it to the next match at home v Warriors

                    Arty,

Tago got injured 1st rd against Souffs. He limped off with an ankle problem and due to injuries returned to play. He then rolled the other so the poor bastard is on the mend.

FPN could be a devestating player but he's too lazy and disinterested. This is why criticism towards him is warranted.
