There is probably a good reason he is a career assistant coach.

He's had more success than Robinson so why wouldn't he make the step up??

He coached NYC to a premiership, been involved in premiership winning first grade teams at Roosters and Storm, and he coached NSW in the inaugural NYC SOO win over QLD.

Not a bad apprenticeship wouldn't you reckon?

On paper it all stacks up bloody well but he hasn't got a First Grade gig elsewhere either. Maybe he is happy being an assistant.

Why are you saying 'I told you so'?
Pay has done nothing and is untested as a stand alone coach for a first grade side.

My guess is Dean Pay is a good assistant and it stops there. No club has jumped on him and there must be a reason why.
So i would stop carrying on about it its a waste of time
Besides he likes the plonk and we have had a enough of that

Not everyone wants the big gig anyway...there's a bit of pressure involved.

                    I didn't say ' I told you so'??????????

'Pay has done nothing' - Did you not read my last post on his achievements?

'Untested as a stand alone coach for a first grade side' - aren't they all when they come in?

Throw in Stuart and Dean Pay. Again, Hayne is the key..
I dont see it mate they have nothing in the forwards or the bench
I think Pay was an abvious choice shame we didnt get him on board to work with our big boys

Yes I'm sure he was a major contributor to those achievements.

straw-clutchers mate. these people will say anything to make things look better or get their confidence up. people are saying the same thing about robbo; saying HE was the main reason we made the grand final in '10

Somw of the actual players actually made that comment, we will see I guess as for pay he has got a good list of achievements from my experience I can say he is a very good communicator which goes a very long way as a coach imo

Assistant coaches play a massive role in today's game. My guess is Pay just has no desire to be a head coach and enjoys the more technical side of the game as an assistant and developing the youngsters.
