Interesting read. What this article fails to mention is the reason why SBW ditches Orr as his manager. Gavin Orr got SBW to sign a contract which was dependent on many variables, one of which was the fact he wanted to keep the team together, but Orr was stupid enough not to include any get out clause in case these variables came to be.He was a poor player manager and this was the main reason why SBW dumped him.

This is why I don't understand why it is that people hate Nasser? Nasser opened a huge door of opportunities for SBW, not to mention the money he has made SBW.Looking at this from a players POV, I would be a lot more comfortable knowing that Nasser is my player manager, rather than Orr.

He will be absolutely craving the peaceful life of regional NZ by the time this one year contract is up. The club really has to devise a method to handle News Ltd, they have done enormous damage to our reputation over the years & the time has come for Canavan to put in place methods to limit the damage they do to us. Maybe he should arrange for a weekly SBW interview/updates, in exchange for a less negative spin to every Rooster's story they publish. We need to try something!?!?

I agree 100% with what you are saying, I still don't understand the hate for SBW by the general population other than a lemmings comparison with the views from News Ltd. I am sure if I was a dogs supporter I wouldn't want to be paying for a marquee player that doesn't want to be there and to top it off he paid out reportedly $750,000.00 to get out of the contract as well as staying away from the Nrl for the rest of his contracted time. Yeah well the club can't take News Ltd on head on, they need to give the bottom feeders something. SBW's relationship with Weidler (of the SMH through his association with Mundine) surely doesn't help, Weidler seems to be the mouthpiece for Mundine & to a lesser extent SBW, therefore making him News Ltd enemy No1, so the club has to give News access to SBW, that should at least lead to a level of appeasement that can allow everyone to get on with their business.

The hypocrisy Im loving at the moment, is the doomsayers saying that players shouldn't be allowed to play Jap rugby (or anything else). Rabbs Warren was having a go with this on MMM this morning and even mentioned Kenny (I assume he meant Brett) also said it shouldnt be allowed ....... forgive me if I'm mistaken, but didn't Brett Kenny and players from his era, play the off season in England when the poms actually played in their winter. I can recall Kenny, Chicka Ferguson playing for Wigan, Peter Sterling with Widnes, Fatty Vautin with St.Helens and many others playing a few months with English team then coming back for Sydney kick off.
Some of them would even go back for a once off game if their teams made the Wembley final ....Kenny even played for Wigan against Sterling one year .... so they had no real off-season with their Sydney teams those years, and then going back to play a one-off Wembley final must surely have disrupted their teams in the sydney comps during that period !
