  • Did Dean Pay deserve to be fined?

    I ask everybody on this forum, as the Bulldogs are the Roosters in 2016 at the moment so if you go back to that ANZAC Day game and compare both teams this is what you will find;

    1. Dogs are 2 from 9, Roosters were 1 from 8;
    2. Bunker involvement in a clear non try situation was called in and determined the outcome;
    3. Both David Klemmer & Jake Friend (Captains) complained about the attitude of the official on the day as questions were not answer and basically they were spoken to like dogs!!!!;
    4. The Bulldogs in the pass have had severe issues under the whistle of Gerrad Sutton, as the Roosters do have the same problem with Ben Cummins;
    5. The Bulldogs had a 2 point turnaround with the Knock On not called only to have in that set a 5th tackle penalty on Josh Morris given, very similar scenario when Sam Moa tackled Gareth Widdop in the motion of a kick in which Widdop stayed down to get the penalty and then was fine to take the conversion which ended up being the difference in BOTH games; and
    6. Both Coaches said exactly the same fundamentals in the press conference.

    After ANZAC day they determined that the penalty on Sam Moa was wrong and that a player in the tackling motion of a kick is acceptable provided that they don't hit them in the head.

    Robbo & Pay both outlined the integrity of the referee as it was clear on national TV that both Sutton & Cummins are rude, incompetent and have a know it all attitude and a personal disliking to both clubs.

    How can the NRL be so blind to this and yet why should the Coaches be punished for answering a question about the performance of the Referee? Do we think it's fair that they fine our coaches but issue no sanctions to current referee's for thier mistakes?

    After reading this, am interested what you all think as this has happen to us and if Referee's do have a dislike for certain clubs should they still be there?

    i think thjere should be a middle person , who cant be fined by the nrl with an opinion regarding crap decisions by the refs. make a case on how certain teams get away with 5hit while other teams get smashed by them. cam smith still running the game while klemmer gets told to nik awfff.

      No . The fines a joke.
      Game managers are only protected species coz the nrl knows they're not impartial.

        Has any coach just said: 'Stuff 'em! I'm not paying!'?

          No the NRL can't handle an honest opinion from someone so they decide to fine whoever for even daring to criticise them.

            Whingeing about the refs at press conferences is stupid and pointless. Players make mistakes, coaches make mistakes and so do refs. But the penalty against Mbye was correct. he pushed Boyd off the ball, penalty every day. Mybe is the one Pay should be whingeing about. The coach should have enough brains to go through the proper channels to make his complaint. Pay needs to grow up.

              The NRL just deducts it from the clubs grant,whether or not he actually ends up having that deducted from his contract payments will be a matter between the club and coach.

                Dean Pay insinuated the refs cheated. IMO he got off lightly.

                  In the context of the rules. Pay was rightly fined for his comments. However I completely agree with the comments he made.

                    No of course he didn't.

                    The Dogs were cooked to a crisp.

                    He was lenient on them compared to what he could have said.

                      Even though he was quite correct.

                        The point about dogs can't win under Sutton like we can't under cummins is correct. He has had it in for them for years going back to the dogs v bunnies Good Friday clash when James Graham lost it against him. The no knock on call on the broncos winger which the nrl tried to justify and the penalty against Morris for blocking in the next set were game changing. He didn't give the dogs one penalty in the 2nd half , he is definitely biased against them

                          Sorry but what was so right with what Pay said?

                          The knock back was a knock back - the problem is that this was actually a knock back that was a knock back unlike the 90% of times they INCORRECTLY call them knock ons.

                          Mbye pushed Boyd. When running at pace, even a slight contact can move you significantly if you are off balance/hit at the right time. If you are dumb/desperate enough to do that to a chaser, you run the risk of being penalised. It was blatantly obvious that it reduced Boyd's chance to compete for the ball.

                          Can't remember what else Pay was carrying on about. The Dogs scored two tries from defenders slipping over. They were competitive but hardly an obviously better side. It would be like saying Manly were better on Sunday - the only reason they got so close was Perenara's eagerness to give them some ridiculous penalties. Mind you, one penalty we got for Manly holding the player too long was in a situation where the previous ruck was twice as bad!

                          The NRL is clear - you cannot accuse referees of bias - "We weren't supposed/meant/etc to win." Sorry, if you didn't mean that, choose your words better.

                            The broncos winger stopped after he dropped it, he knew he had knocked it on.
