  • SKD’s retirement

i heard this morning that SKD will be gone from Newcastle, and I DO NOT suggest that we need to sign him for our 1st grade team, that ship has sailed away a long time ago, however North Sydney would be a good place for him for a couple of years, and he will be linked to the roosters system in some way.
i have always carried a soft spot for SKD, even when he made me pull my hair out with some of his dropped balls, but I always loved his passion for the team and his willingness to have a go . His 2010 intercept will live long in my memory, as will his runaway try ( with a broken jaw) in the 2013 GF.

Yeah he is off to Hull KR who just survived relegation by points difference - if they went down not sure where he would have ended up

At least if he was playing reserves he could justify all the mistakes.

          Will always love SKD.

Love SKD but he is better off making good coin for a couple of years. All the best mate.

I think SKD will do quite well over there, alas in an average team that probably will be relegated next year. Should have gone to Toronto will be most likely promoted this year

Before 2013 SKD was the Roosters most potent attacking player. He did have a mistake in him but he was also lethal in attack.
He should go good in England.

I wonder why you never hear anything about SKD's broken jaw effort in the 2013 GF, yet other GF heroics like John Slatter's jaw or Sam Burgarse's check bone are made to seem like super natural feets. Not underestimating those efforts, just wondering why SKDs hasn't gotten much praise for this effort. Fergo's broken leg from last year's GF is another example of an effort that we haven't heard to much about. Fergo's leg took very much a back seat to Cronk's shoulder.

Yeah some people take the glory, others get forgotten.

SKD's legacy is somewhat disappointing as I think he was legitimately a decent bloke who befriended and trusted absolute d!ckheads (both of whom are the spoiled kids of REAL athletes who just expected pro careers to come to them... whereas SKD is a self-made son of a crippled father who had to build his career without any connections/reputation in the sporting world).
                    - As a player he was one of our highest scoring, loyal, 1-club champs. On paper he had a lot of good stats (which don't come by fluke) but was forced out under rally unfortunate circumstances.
                    - His reputation was in tatters after Nova Peris' drug-addicted, wannabe-athlete daughter took to him (some feminists will never believe he's 100% innocent). He ended up spending most of his time looking after her kid, padding her ego (about her failed sporting career), taking a (literal and verbal) beating from her and then being thrown under the bus with false allegations when he tried to leave her. She's a scumbag and he deserved better!!!
                    - His career ended when he took a bullet for that fukking lowlife Paul Carter. During a decent night out, Carter saw a drug dog and was like 'HERE, HOLD THESE DRUGS FOR ME!!!' DEAD SET... dead fukking set... the scumbag then threw him under the bus and said he'd orchestrated the whole thing. As possession is a strict liability offence, SKD ended up losing a year of pay, his place at Bondi and getting a permanent crim record (that could, for example, exclude him from visiting the USA...etc).

Yes SKD was a rocks and diamonds kinda player but to be fair... who isn't? As an outside back your job is to catch difficult balls, shrug players and score tries. You often don't get particularly good ball, but the pressure's all the same as a pro.

I wish him the best in England and hope he's scored a big fat paycheque.

well said ISM. SKD is a tremendous fellow and was really shat on by absolute scumbags.
Unfortunately I am not sure he would want to come back here.
But I wish him all the best in the UK and I hope he has a huge amount of sucess.

After what that total C U Next Tuesday Jessica Peris did to him...and that Christ bothering lunatic Mike Baird and his pious bullshit convicting him in the public square, I wish him well.

You never know what you were going to get with SKD...... but it was mainly good and always 100% effort. I remember a game against the Tigers were he ran across field and beat 5 defenders, then straightened up and beat another 3 defenders and had a clear passage to the tryline....ran about 10 metres and with no one within sight of him out popped the ball. Same game he dropped a perfect pass with the line wide open 1/2 a metre out....and about 5 minutes later Pearce put a kick through that was going out for all money until SKD freak dived full stretch and caught the ball on his fingertips and planted it within a millimetre of the dead ball line. Great SKD moments!
