  • Should Luke Keary return to 5/8th?

Is the halfback experiment over now?!

And move Momirovski to North Sydney Oval.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

But then who do you put on the wing? Is Billy Smith ready to come back

I think Walker will eventually move to the #7 but for the moment 5/8 is the right place for young Sam. Which means that Kez is our half

There's plenty to choose from. Billy Smith can play wing if he returns to form, but he didn't do much when he came back from injury. Otherwise, we're flushed with players available to play on the wing, including Momirovski.

Momo struggled on the wing in r1. I think Billy is the next option, but when is he due back

Personally I think they deserve more time. They are getting better. I can see the back half of this year looking great for their combination. It hurts losing games like this thou….

I think the question isn’t what number he should be wearing. 6 or 7, who cares it’s just a number.

I think the real question is whether he will get back to being the player he was before the knee injury. I think there has to be doubts. It just ain’t happening for him at the moment.

No because he’s proven he’s a better organiser than Walker, Sam Walker just needs to be allowed to play his natural game without the pressure of having to lead a side around. That day will come in the future but not as a 19 year old.

Keary hasn’t got the kicking game to be able to control a game or even dictate it. His 25M end to end bombs is all we have coming out of our half.

Yes Keary to 5/8 and Walker to 1/2

Keary is struggling with the responsibility of running the team which is unnatural for him being a running half. - Way too much Sideways running and his kicking game especially on the last has been poor - too short and ill directed.

It was like Walker was running the team today in any case as he certainly handled the ball far more then Keary did.

Wallker can play his own game still at half

I know Robbo said something about ten weeks to find their game as a team - week 7 and it's not improving one has to say.

That was more than a winnable game today.

I don't think their heads are where they should be at as they are not nailing the key moments and seem to be flustered at times in attack and lack ideas.

65% (29/44) completions is not at a level required one has to say and no use saying back in 2018/19 they had low completions rates and won comps - different game as possession is king in the faster game.

Short turnaround to the Bulldogs game who will be a tough task the way the Roosters are playing currently.

They would have banked on being at least 6 from 7 after today instead 4 from 7 so 2 games adrift and they do have one of the hardest draws so dropping these games is not good.

Of course. You play your best player where he is most effective, no brainer.

Our whole attack revolves around giving it to Joey, just let him play 6, 7 & 9.

So do you drop him? Because it’s not like putting a 7 on Sam Walkers back is going to mean all of a sudden our kicking game is going to have more distance on them.

Walker didn’t touch the ball more than Keary he just had more memorable touches because he’s being allowed to play with that freedom where he can just run and pass.

Put the 7 on his back and he can’t be running the ball on 4th or 5th play as he needs to be in position organising the side for his last tackle kick.

Sam Walker had 1 kick today to Keary’s 14. Maybe the argument needs to be about balancing that out a little better but to suggest that Walker can still play his game whilst taking on the responsibility of halfback is nonsensical. Just let the kid play and get the ball when and where he wants.
