Cordner did very well. Lets give the bloke a chance to grow into the position.

I haven't seen the game yet and won't see it till later today so in the interim I'd appreciate it if anyone could offer their impression of Boyd's game please?

Never looked like a rookie. Was very solid in both attack and defence, carried the ball out in front of him, has decent pace and a good step, he ran the ball well and seemed keen all night.

        That'll do pig, that'll do.

        Chook.

imo he did enough to deserve a bench spot infront of the sauce head.

He looked a bit out on his feet, still a lot to work on. Got caught way too far in when defending on our line but showed plenty of ticker to scramble well.

He's still overcoming a serious knee injury, for some reason we kept using him as a decoy, still working on combinations I think because he's wasted as a decoy. I wonder if he'll get a run in the centres next week....

Jeez he causes some headaches for teams out on the edges. He needs to start a foot or two deeper, so he can set the line he is running better, but if he keeps improving he'll be a 10 year first grade player.

i hope not. he is a genuine forward. he looks a bit lighter than his usual weight which is also probably a by product of injuries. if he can finish off the season injury free with a few more games of firsts under his belt and have a strong pre season with the first grade squad where he can put back on a few kgs and get his motor back up to capacity, he and guerra could become part of one of the most damaging backrows in the NRL when you throw in the attacking abilities of symonds, maubs and cherro.

what i liked in particular about his game last night - apart from the fact that he proved that he in definitely first grade material was the skillful aspects of his game. when he first came on he was involved in a couple of excellent catch pass movements down the right which was right around the time that we managed to pick up those 2 tries before half time. he is also incredibly good on his feet. these things make him an extra exciting prospect for mine because to me, he now looks like a player with the engine and heart of a fitzy, the aggression of crocker and the ball skills of a fletcher. maybe im getting a little too overexcited but imo the signs are there

i actually see a ben creagh type player when i see boyd, as much as i think creagh is a big pansy and shys away from the tough stuff the way he hits the line is very good, and i can see boyd doing a simliar job for us, just hope boyd will do the hard yards aswell, going on last nights performance he will be a very good player for long term

i think symonds is a creagh/lewis hybrid - hits the line and runs the angles on the edges like creagh (also started off as an outside back like creagh) and has the ball playing attributes not dissimilar to luke lewis

Cordner is one of the toughest kids you will see.

IMO, in attack he reminds me of the young Craig Fitzgibbon that came to us in 2000.
