They are in the lead to snare jeff lima now as well. Two things, firstly, how much money do these guys have under the cap? and secondly, how many frontrowers does a footy side need. They already have asotasi, ross, burgess, taylor and luke stuart all of whom are more than competent in that domain. throw in pettybourne who can play in that sort of capacity if need be and boy do they have a lot of front rowers. When considering their backrow consists of one genuine recognised backrower, crocker, I cant help but wonder where the funds are coming from and why they need so many props.

Their backline is actually quite average if you ask me as well. sutton isnt quite a genuine half or backrower so he is kind of in no mans land and sandow is as prediactable as the weather in terms of what sort of performance he will dish up so i cant help but wonder. Their back 3 is ok and young morgan and webster coming through provide adequate depth in that depatment but i think a centre pairing of best and champion leaves a lot to be desired irrespective of vai vai and farrell - although good lower grade form, no rep experience begs the quesiton for mine and im not sure a side can pin their hopes like that - a quality centre seems to be the go and maybe a backrower but not another prop!

I think our recruitment is fine

How on earth is that even possible?

Don't they have to pay a $300,000 transfer fee for Burgess which counts towards the salary cap?

As they have signed Taylor and Ross thats conservatively $1 million off there cap for next season right there probably closer to 1.2 mill. They only lost Wing, Faao'ologo and Kidwell.

Apparently the transfer fee is NOT included in the salary cap.

As for Taylor and Ross I think you are overestimating their salaries.

Taylor was signed when he was relegated to the QLD cup and Ross was looking for a lifeline.

OK I had heard that it is

              Hence my conservative estimation of

              $300,000 transfer fee
              $300,000 Burgess
              $200,000 Ross
              $200,000 Taylor reportedly getting $270,000

Ben Ross would be on minimum wage...he was thrown a life line and probably lucky Souff's are willing to gamble the $50k or whateva the minimum is...

Correct Foggy,he is on a incentive deal, similar to Mini.
Saying that, souffs do seem to be ignoring the cap limit though...

Maybe by this time next week we will have enough room under the cap to offer Lima the coin he deserves $250,000

                      8. Roy Asotasi
                      9. Issac Luke
                      10. Sam Burgess
                      11. Eddy Pettybourne
                      12. Luke Stuart
                      13. Mick Crocker

                      14. Jamie Simpson / Jason Clark
                      15. Shannon McPherson / Ben Lowe
                      16. David Taylor
                      17. Ben Ross

                      Scott Geddes in reserve too.

Why on earth would they need another prop?

His manager signed a letter of intent to join the 'Dogs for 2009, but backed out at the deadline. He re-signed with Melbourne for 3 years.

"south sydney and more recently the wests tigers are chasing the 27 year old who is keen to stay"

thats supports what I have heard elsewhere that souths are in the lead - if wests are fresh on the trail then souths are obviously out in front
