Come on now. There are only a handful of halves genuinely better than him, all of whom are on over a mil and there are a handful of halves that are nowhere near as good as him already on a mil.
In the market and given the lack of high quality 7s all round, he is 100% worth backing for the future and signing long term.

Two things make Sam look good.
1. Average opposition.
2. His team mates.

not sure if they’ll be willing to spend that money this early, depends how long an offer we give him though.

I’m ok to chuck 1.3m at him, from 2026 his game is going to continue to grow and evolve, he’s already becoming more and more consistent. Cleary took a fair while to get going, even then he’s had a gun squad around him. Arguably didn’t see his individual best till second half of last years GF.
In est in Walker, he’ll repay us

Every player has an opinion on what another player is worth and should be getting paid.
There are serious ramifications in making someone the highest paid player based on potential when other proven players have taken much less to stay at the club.
Rads, Spencer, Lindsay, May are taking less to be at the Roosters. Angus could have got a lot more elsewhere. Joey could have got a million plus from St. George a few years back but stayed.
Teddy could go back to the Tigers and get 1.5, but he ain't stupid.
There is a lot of pressure in being the highest payed player at a club.
If Walker's father thinks he is a 1.3 player all he has to do is prove it by winning us a comp..not that hard.
