It was a game of football that anyone with an idea about rugby league should have expected. Souths with very little player movement from 2012 (a year in which they were 1 game away from GF) played to their strengths and exposed our weakness (little combinations, weaker forwards and the right edge defence). Throw in some soft penalties, some harsh penalties and a few bounces of ball going other way and the scoreboard looks a bit worse than it should.

Watching the replay, it is worth noting that despite riding a 6-1 penalty count, Souffs only scored 2 tries to our 1. The second (much like the third) was a lucky deflection off a kick. Our defence for 37 minutes held strong despite being starved of possession.

If we patch up that right side a bit better and capitalise on our chances, it's a different ball game.

Keep in mind Souffs nearly played a perfect game.

3 tries as a direct result of SKD's inability to read the play, the bloke surely knows if you rush up in defence like that, you either have to make the tackle or interupt the play, Sheck had no choice but to follow SKD infield.

The Pearce, SKD, Sheck side will be bombarded this season, that is our major weakness.

Our left hand edge was superb in both attack and defence, Why the fark our halves kept going the other wat confused the hell out of me.

Whether it was Maloney or Pearce calling the shots, they got it completely wrong.

Finally our kicking game was disgusting full stop!!

Souffs were the better team, but fark me they had a huge leg up from those pricks in pink.
i cant undertand how kenny dope did not contest one of the bombs that lead to the two tries the bloke is over 6 foot tall
man what a joke of a player he is
may as well put sbw in the centres and fark this idiot off all together

He did contest. One of them Inglis came through jumped into him and smashed him out of the way while he was in the air.

The scoreboard flattered them? Not a win you'd get very excited about? What farkin rubbish

They were in total control for 95% of the match, and as it stands, they've got lengths on us

And Reynolds has lengths on Pearce

Souffs attack is teh same as last year. What wont win them a comp, no matter how hard teh refs try for them is their Defence. It is not up to scratch. We broke their line enough times to suggest, when attacking sides with good cohesion play them Souffs will cop some floggings.

We dont have cohesion yet, and thats the difference. We broke their line 6 times to 4. 3 of their 4 were from bombs. Hardly up the middle stuff.

                Souffs were very disciplined.

Even the Roosters team of the century would have struggled to win a game with such a lopsided penalty count.

With the comp being so even it is nearly impossible to win games with such a disadvantage.

I saw enough from us to suggest a good season is ahead.

I firmly believe that the scoreboard flattered us and that a much superior team such as Melbourne or Canterbury with Ben Barba would have really put us to the sword.

I thought the scoreboard ended up reflecting the game fairly well. Unfortunately!
