What are the thoughts out there in regards to Daniel Tupou. For me the jury is still well and truly out. Can't complain about his defence but he seems very clumsy and awkward with the ball in his hands and I am not sure if he has the polish to be a good finisher. Also, I was expecting a glut of tries from him this year leaping for the high ball, but he hasn't even come close in the last few weeks. He either doesn't get to the kick or when he jumps for it, doesn't even look like catching it. Having said that he is still inexperienced so willing to wait and see how he progresses.

Take a look at some of the illustrious names from the '09 era.
Those of the Iwi Hauraki, Jordan Tansey, Vince Mellars, Steve Meredith, Brent Grose sort of mould.
Now ask yourself how you feel about having a big, strong, tall, quick young bloke on the wing named Daniel Tupou.
Doesn't really seem so bad does it.

All that instint and positional play will come with experience he has a whole season to learn and I expect big things for him, been a youngster he has been made a target several times just like RTS and come through flying colours. Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

As you can see we are not a one dimentional team ...the plays are made -right left center ...at the moment we ar e attacking abit more on the right and earlier in the year it was on the left .
As you probably notice these blokes are learning the art of defence first...all they have to do id drop their error rates and penalties against and we can be shit hot -We cant last all season defending. Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

I agree that the jury is out, though given his age and physical characteristics (and the lack of suitable replacement), I'm more than happy for TR to persist with him and give him a good crack at the position.
He has the odd error in him but you certainly wouldn't say he is a liability to the team.
He looks quick over 100m, but he doesn't appear to have the explosive initial speed of Jennings or RTS. I'm not sure if it just appears this way due to his height and build or he actually takes a bit to get going.
I think next year, with some work on his explosive speed and power, he could become a very good long term winger for us.
As an aside, Moga is being touted as the saviour on his return - potentially replacing SKD or Tupou. Although he has plenty of potential, he still needs to prove himself as first grade material. From what I've seen, my concern is his attitude rather than his talent. There were times last year where he seemed lazy and didn't have that desperation in defence that the team has been showing this year. I'd be surprised if he played any firsts this year unless we get some injuries to the outside backs.

It was stated by POS dont quote me as I read it a while back but he said he compared him to Isreal and said at the same age DT wasnt as professional as Isreal was ata young age ...meaning that he is a late bloomer ..similar in attributes and style etc.
Dont hammer the kid he needs confidence. Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe
