Anasta could play in a mud swamp and still leave the field clean. The more i watch him restart the more i realise he relishes the theatrics of holding his wrist in the air, keeping everone behind him and then prancing up to the ball, head down, flawless technique. Where the ball ends up is really of no consequence. He's like a hack in a golf driving range, with all the flash gear and buckets and buckets of balls.
    Anasta lives for restarts.

      This post made me laugh.
That is an achievement given my dour state after a loss.

Sorry to spoil your little contribution, but i wasnt talking about how many metres players make?
Myles was out top eater metre also last weekend!
My point was based on these guys snail like running at the line,it almost looks like a total lack of interest!
Regardless of how many metres Phillips made back in the day,the kid ran with heart and gusto..
        Thats the difference!
We need players who give a damn, and show it when they are running at the line..

I thought Graham looked dangerous running the ball back at times.

Not every player runs at a million miles per hour.

Go watch Darius Boyd,Brett Stewart,Slater and many more..You will definetly see a difference!

I dont mind Graham, but in the urgency stakes he is definetly lacking some!

It doesn't matter how hard the fullback hits the line.

It does matter that in those 5 seconds of retrieving the ball, he eats up as much territory as he can. In essence, it is his job to get us on the front foot each set.

One of the best is Josh Hoffman for Brisbane, its important to eat as much metres as possible and also to run hard to dominate the ruck otherwise its a dominate tackle against u especially if u fall to the ground easily.

My issue is with Nate Myles this weekend watch him hit the line at 2 miles an hour

All I can say is when you look at the alternatives Graham doesn't look so bad.. Any co-incidence that since a change of fullback that we have managed to score more than 2 tries per match in the past 2 games.
                    ...

I have no issue with P.Graham but when he catches the ball dont Turn around slower then the Titanic just catch and run i hate players that jog back and look for an opening 85% u never see Fullbacks breaking the line anyway.

Thanks for the clarification. If I had have known that you want our players to be bad but look like they care based solely on the ever important criteria of how hard they hit the line then I wouldn't have bothered with trivial things like objective and quantifiable measures of performance.

Mate its about building momentum for the rest of the team, the harder they run the ball back the better effect it has on the rest of the team..It builds confidence, and gains forward momentum for the next play the ball!
If you cant see that then good luck!

Neverminding the fact that Graham had the most tackle breaks of any fullback this weekend, which seemingly implies to this blind man that that he is generating a fine amount of momentum, because we seem to be talking in hyperbole and intangibles, I'll put it another way.

Graham runs the way he does because it's more effective for a guy with his slighter frame and good footwork to do so. If he hits it up at full pace, best case scenario he probably gets broken in half by an opposing forward, worst case he goes off on a stretcher and that REALLY kills momentum.

I'd rather take 1 extra line break from him looking for opportunities to use his pace rather than some extra "confidence" from him blindly smacking himself into a wall. If our fowards need Phil Graham to spear himself into a Greg Inglis shoulder to fire up then Graham really isn't the problem at all.
