I think it's fair to say NO from a punter's perspective.

As a fan I'd love to say we are up there, but we're gonna have to train hard in the off-season if we wanna get ANYWHERE let alone win the whole farking comp.
The same unchanged lineup that made the grand final in 2010?

We played like crap this year mainly due to a horror run with injuries and the crap Carney caused, yet only missed the 8 by 3 wins.
If we can get a decent injury run and the fact that we will be 5 or 6 penalties a game better off due to Ryles and Myles leaving I think we are top 4 specials.

Carney made the Grand Final in 2010... The rest just followed him for the ride.

Can't argue with that, i think it took Smith and Carney to give the Roosters players some confidence and the belief back after years of shit. Hopefully the belief that ended 2011 will carry on in 2012.

In 2010 we had a quicker play-the-ball with the introduction of second ref. We had Carney who was quick and elusive enough to commit defenders and create overlaps, and we had some speed out wide in Graham and Linnett.

2011 slower play-the-balls. 2012 no Carney, Linnett, or Graham. We have also lost two of our highest workrate forwards in Myles and Ryles.

Hardly the same circumstances of 2010. I would not be surprised to see us have a decent start to the season off the back of our keen young forwards, but 2012 has a 2006 feel about it.

I'm not into old feel, 2006 is too long 2011 is a long time in league. wait and see you will be surprised.

The competition is so even these days anything is possible.

We just have to be consistent.

Braith will need to stand up and be counted.

I count him as negative one.

It's Pearce who has to step up for us to be any chance. We all know Anasta isn't really going to be anymore than a link man to the backs on the left side. Everything else is up to Pearce. Hopefully our forwards can get us into good position. If that happens there will be no excuses for him. He'll need to work on his short kicking to build pressure and his passing game will really have to fire. We have some of the best line running backrowers in the comp so if he can give them quality balls that will improve our attack close to the line no end. Same with our backs, they're big and skillful to score frequently when close to the line. They just need to be given good ball at the appropriate times. Pearce will make or break our 2012 season.

Why not start supporting Braith? He is going to be there in round 1 with the number 6 on his back. What would you prefer? a) He is a failure and you can say you were right. b) He plays well and the Roosters, the team we all support and love, can start winning matches and cement a place in the top 8.

I know which option I would prefer.

If Fred is Glum, Rocky Rhodes must be a close relative looking at his inspiring snapshot of the club.

Wests Tigers are now faves, post Manlys debacle....doesnt seem quite right.

For the record, I think the Panthers might be next years surprise packet if looking for an early flutter.
