conceding 60, 28 and 16 unanswered points was as they say not chook like - with the 6 again and other proposed changes the game will be faster with the ball in play longer so defences will be really tested - it wont be the case of the best defensive sides winning games/comps it will the best attacking sides i.e scoring as many points as tbey can with a run of possession and momentum.
The NRL are wanting high scoring games like they have been in the finals each round all season long including in finals matches. coaches will have to prepare players and teams differently in pre-season and during the season to cope with a faster game-players will need to be fitter and more agile
I agree on all this - you can see in the finals series that the games have a usual scoreline of 36 vs 24 = Total of 60 points scored, usually 7 tries to the winner and 5 tries by the losing team.
Good defence is no longer a major factor - its a reason why the Roosters no longer fare so well, as our emphasis has always been on the defensive side of the game.
Under current rules, you no longer have time to reset your defensive wall with 6 again and quick play the balls - that means more chaos in the defensive line , holes everywhere , and good attacking systems exploit and score lots of points
I think that is one reason our team failed this year.
You look at the vermin who can throw the ball around and make it stick, but have neo real defensive capabilities- they are a possibility of making the GF.
I hate all this touch football stuff - I much prefer old fashioned tough forward battles tempered by some attacking brilliance in the backs, and low scoring finals football matches.
If you want to see an interesting viewpoint watch Sterlos wrap from last week - the first 5 minutes Sterling talks about rugby league always being a battle of defence vs attack - and now that dynamic is being changed, and its a real concern for him.
In any case, a real tough one for Robbo and Fitzy to re-mould our side for next year- "times are a- changing"

as an astute person has said to me ..we had a lot of concussed players to wards the back end of the season . ...no other reason for their lapses .Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

The ones conceded late in the set which leads to a 9,10 or 11 tackle set gasses teams and drains them. There is no chance for the defensive team to reset and catch their breath.
It's the reason why we are seeing huge momentum shifts and good attacking sides can put on 3 tries in 10 minutes with running halves carving up the opposition.

The sad reality is we folded like a cheap suit when it mattered.
We won two titles on the back of being the best defensive team in the comp.
The 4 teams left in the race have the best pairs of running halves which I don't think is coincidental.
I won't be surprised if Robbo goes with giving Walker a go next year but it's going to be a big ask if his body will be up to it.

I liked the rule at the beginning, but have come to hate it.
Maybe it's my biased eyes, but I hardly recalled us getting a 6 again from tackle 3 onwards. It was always on first tackle or with 1 minute to go in the half.
Our opposition seemed to constantly get them on the 3rd and 4th tackles - massive difference. The sad thing is, there's no stats about on which tackle the 6 again is given. It really wore us down imo.
To hell with the 6 again rule.
