Keary can always move back to 5/8 if need be.
Guessing it means little more than 'Lam will be our starting 5/8 for 2021'.

To me it's a bit like being #11 or #12 though... not sure why you'd bother changing the jersey as it make no practical difference. It's a bit like telling Jordan he can't have his #23 and giving him #2 because that's what a shooting guard's supposed to wear. Whether or not somebody's #1 (point guard), #2 (shooting guard) or #23 (Jordan) they're still a 'guard' just like how Keary's a 'half'. There's no real mandate for what a HB and 5/8 have to do differently IMO.

Is this all an elaborate ploy to sidestep the fact our team doesn't have a goalkicker? Hate to say it but halves are there for their tech skills rather than their intimidating size/defence. Is it really expecting too much of a 1/2 for one to ask them to learn how to kick conversions when they're already a world class in-game kicker and 1/2 their job involves kicking the ball accurately? Just saying...

I know it was Aubusson, my question was tongue in cheek in response to a fellow chookepenner who’s been on and on about the club making a mistake in letting Flannigan go and that Keary at half is going backwards. Just wanted to remind him /her/it ( I’m being inclusive ) of who really ran the team in ‘18 despite someone else wearing the 7 jumper

I'm not overly excited by Lam or Hutch
Alot of talk around Walker , but still very much the unknown.

I think teddy would have what it takes to go from world class FB to top shelf 5/8th... similar to Lockyer.
I think Keary 7 and Teddy 6 would work, I think it is wait and see about Suaali, but yes it would be awesome. But what happens with Walker?? He is supposed to be special and in our future plans which means halfback, then Keary back to 6...... too many changes in too short a time. Teddy plays like an extra 5/8 most of the time, eventually he might play there as a replacement for Keary, but both of them could get huge offers to go to the new Brisbane team in 2023, as could Walker. Lots of balls in the air. Lets hope lam goes well for now and Walker progresses.

Forget moving Tedesco to 5/8. He isn’t natural passer nor does he have a kicking game. He is a runner and a brilliant one at that.

Teddy is a fullback and the world's best.

Teddy is a great attacking fullback who plays like an extra 5/8, he is not a great defensive fullback. He would make a great 5/8 and I think there is a good chance he will move there in the next 2 or 3 years.

But we move Keary to half..... go figure. Teddy has a great pass and would shine at 5/8. But as I said, I hope lam goes well.

Lam is a great choice - he proved at the end of the last season that he can move the ball forward. That was his biggest shortcoming earlier on.

he is not a great defensive fullback .......is what I said, that's my opinion based on watching every game he has played for us, it's just not his greatest strength, I love the guy, but he gets run over and pushed off a lot, and struggles covering grubbers etc

Apart from a kicking game Teddy is a very complete player imo.

What are you talking about Skeez, look at these photos from training. He’s a natural champ

With Volkman, Walker and Suaalii all coming through, it will be interesting to see how the club handles it. I don’t see Teddy moving from FB any time soon.

I saw Minichiello on a podcast recently talk about how Teddy picked up the way we want a fullback to organise the defence from the back really quickly.

Obviously you’re speaking about his individual defence but I think it’s very good. He’ll make the odd slip up (I mean that literally too for ol’ short studs), he’s in a position on the field where he defends on his lonesome so a good step/fend or the bounce of the ball can make a dick of him.

I’ve seen him save plenty of tries though, I’m not quite old enough to have seen a lot of Fittler so Teddy is without a doubt the most complete player I’ve seen at the chooks.

To me, Keary at 7 is temporary. I think he will revert to 6 once Walker becomes an entrenched member of the first grade squad.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.
