  • FPN - what is going on?

On Friday night, these are FPN's stats:
    Minutes played: 33
    Hitups: 2
    Tackles: 8
    Offloads: 1
    Errors: 1

Now, my question is why was Frank used so little? Mason played 80 by the clock but really of that 80 he was effective for half of it and was playing a prop's role close in and hitting it up. WTF, isn't that what FPN is for?

To my mind, wouldn't the Roosters have been better served by Mason playing for 60 minutes, FPN for 53 minutes and getting the maximum out of both players? This type of rotation reminds of the bad old days with pr!cky stupid as coach.
Freddy, are you as clueless as you want me to believe you are becoming?

FPN's last few weeks have been relatively poor. Few minutes, low workrate. But I have faith in him, he runs the ball hard, makes very few errors anymore, consistently looks for second-phase play. If he can play the role Andrew Lomu played for us in 2002, except with clearly better ballplaying abilities, he will be a champ for us!

Freddy's rotation of our forwards and use of the bench has been poor all season. I don't want to bag him because he is a young coach but some of his decisions have cost us games. There is never any continuity in what we do from week to week. Yes there have been injuries but we have blokes playing different roles each week.

Credit to him though, it only took 5 months to have Fitzy playing a tighter role and using Mason on an edge. Where they were both very effective.

I was horrified when in the first half Pearce kicked into touch when we were deep in attack. Instead of going for the jugular we were trying to give our forwards a rest.

        We still have massive issues.

What have I been saying for over a year....most of these boys are NOT 1st Grade standard! FPN is high on that list of NOT 1st Grade standard. In time he may get better...but we either put up with the crap, or shaft them.

It doesnt help when there isnt one decent coach at the club. How the **** are these boys going to get better? Playing in a pub comp for Newtown has done and will do nothing for them. Get us some coaches, **** off Newtown and bring back Reserve Grade.

Franky over the past two weeks has been a bit below par, self admitted mind you.

Similar to the slump lopini had earlier this year. Could be a confidence thing with the lack of minutes.

We have seen great performances from Franky when he has started the game along side nate, they actually form a great front row combination.

Agreed, Melon you are a bit harsh on FPN. He was great earlier on in the season.

I actually think our best frontrow combination is Myles/FPN, with Paea and maybe JWH next season off the bench.

              8. Nuuausala
              9. Friend
              10. Myles
              11. Sa
              12. Cherrington
              13. Anasta

              14. J Aubusson
              15. Symonds
              16. Warea-Hargreaves
              17. Paea

I think it looks pretty nice to be honest. Warea-Hargreaves looks a tremendous prospect.

That backrow is shocking.. None of them have a high workrate in defence.. We would come last with that pack.

Other option is to drop Warea-Hargreaves, bench Cherrington, and bring in Boyd Cordner, who according to O'Sullivan is the man to take over from Fitzgibbon.

We look to be getting to a position at the roosters again where a bench spot is not just a bench spot, it is an integral part of the game plan and will highlight the importance of proper use of the bench.

Cordner will be only 17 next season, expecting him to deliver a high workrate would be absurd in his first season. I still think we need to recruit one or two workers in the pack with some experience. I would also prefer Maubs at Lock but it appears that won't happen. With any luck though Sa won't be here.

Agree entirely. We have to many blokes who are not 1st grade standard which is why we are last on the table. You don't have to be a genius to work it out! Until the club buys the appropriate players we will continue to be the NRL'S whipping boys.

When? I have never seen a great performance from FPN.

Pearce has one or two great moments in any game, unfortunately he also has 4 or 5 really stupid moments as well.

You cant buy teh appropriate players Coggie. They arent out there growing on trees. You have to develop them, and we are doing squat in that department with the training and coaching staff we have left.
