Your not stupid melon, many many games we dominated but came up with nothing this season even with some shit go forward, id suggest we threw half a dozen games away with Pearce being the main culprit in each.
simple fact is he is a dope both on and off the field, we need a halfback that is a leader, a person people follow, not some bloke that waits for everything ad anyone to do it for him, not some bloke that away from footy is a mumbling mess who tags along with anyone offering up a drink or a root.
The bloke obviously has ability, whether he was uncoached and will thrive under smith i dont know, but your name will only get you so far.
There was a great story on the weekend about Mitchell Beadman and his struggles with the booze and party lifestyle, ill try and find a link, have a read, you could insert pearce into the surname and it would be no differant, except beadman has put his hand up to acknowledge his prob and is taking a break.

The likes of Johns barely debuted until after this age and was even initially at hooker until the 23 years of age mark. Not saying pearce is as good as Johns but he was a talented kid thurst into the deep end in a team that has had all the problems in the world. He has shown promise imo and a willingness to learn and develop. His attitude towards footy is first class and he gives us hope imo. Pearcesworstnightmare as the name suggests is intent always on putting him down because he is bitter that his best mate soward was dumped in such an undignified manner.

I dont give a shit what he or anyone else does in the off season or behind closed doors, what i do care about is our club running last, his performances being a big part of that and his party at all cost lifestlye being a big part of that.
You know things are bad when a bloke with the reputation of mason has too drag you out of a leagues club, a club where you were a guest at a presentation, and also representing our club.
He was shattered and dragged out by mase, literally kicking and screaming, so if mason thinks you have gone over the top, it suggest you have a problem.
During the season proper he and every other player is a representative of this club, like it or not he was at the centre of 4 of our **** ups and many others that were un reported which i will leave alone.
IMO he is a rude obnoxious prick and everything for a fan looks like its a effort for him even at post match presentations where fans are encouraged to mingle with the players.
Thats off the playing field.
On the field quite simply IMO i think he is clueless and one dimensional, can play the game but either tries too hard or cannot plan ahead, we may have a faulty engine on the Rooster ship, but it doesnt matter how powerful the motor when you are constantly lost with no rudder.

in fact we were smashed in just about every game this season.
it was a shocking season by all and sundry involved including pearce but lets not pretend that our team played well so that we can lay the blame mainly at pearce.

Against the titans, we couldn't hold them out for 2 minutes. I don't care whether he kicked the ball into touch or not - titans were steamrolling us and were always going to win.
I'll blame the farked defence - same goes for half of those games.
How can Pearce organise the teams lack of conditioning ? or to wrap up the tackle.
I'll agree, half the time he was running around like a headless chook with no gameplan, but he showed enough glimpses of heart, skill and organisation which makes me breathe confidently in the future to come.
Games are won and lost in the forwards and i urge people to research our packs productivity from last season to get a good idea of just how far behind the competition we were. It's like we were playing the whole season on the backfoot.

I'd be fine if Pearce went to the flying vermin if he continues the form of 09 (on and off the field) into 2010. Rugby league players generally aren't the sharpest tools in the shed but Pearce appears blunter than most based on what I've seen and heard."The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."

And yes, forwards win matches and our pack consistently underperforms.
But for mine, Pearce is a poor attacking half. He's a kicker, not a runner.
The elite halves like Thurston and Prince are dangerous with ball in hand. Pearce is not.
Yes, he's only 20. But these glimpses you've seen, next year they need to become a whole lot more. He needs to start having a genuine impact on matches. He needs to become an attacking option. He needs to run at the line. He needs to kick less

I only hope that Smith & Co can get this young kid sorted out on and off the field. He has the talent, what he needs now is a suitable on field game plan and structure and offield discipline and control.
Otherwise he will ultimately fall foul of the Club's 'code of conduct' and they will be forced to deal with the consequences in the public eye, whether they like it or not.

Did you watch Thurston struggle at the start of the season when his forwards were rolling over backward ? Only when the pack started to find their feet, he started running well.
