Best game of Mitchell's short career tonight.
No way a cat scores that first try of his.

Yep some amazing stuff there... definitely his most complete performance:
      - 2 tries... first was amazing and second is gonna go down for team try of the year IMO
      - Some good takes. Got robbed on one of his best (somehow freakishly got the ball back into play then some caaaarnt pulls him down while he's playing the ball and a free try is given to Pemriff rather than a penalty for us)
      - Soward had an amazing kicking game... Latrell fielded his kicks really well IMO
      - Lots of smart offloads... really enterprising stuff there! Made metres through teamwork
      - To top it off he had some really powerful individual runs where he hit significantly 'thicker' (i.e. older guys who have filled out like men - he's still got a lanky boy figure) and he HURT them!

We lost and ultimately we'll be graded on where we sit on the latter. But christ... I swear anybody attacking our players and team based on this form is on crack. This was our best performance of the season... we put everything out there (in the rain), took risks, rolled the dice and LOOKED EXCITING!! Didn't quite get there, but probably woulda with JWH, Cords and Pearce driving us home in the last 10. My call - if JWH and Cords came on with fresh legs in the last 10 then we woulda won by 6 and Soward wouldn't have locked us out with his kicking in the final 10.

      Ooooooh keep laughing dragons fans!!!

        !
        That decision sucked.
Made all the "experts" on telly over-look Mitchell's escape act. Fantastic effort to get out of the in-goal area, reminded me of Mini.

I honestly think in 2017 or 2018 he'll be in contention for a spot in the Australian team and be playing either wing or fullback for New South Wales in Origin.

Best game so far tonight but he's been pretty decent for a few weeks now.I think 2017 is when he'll really stand up and be noticed but he could really come into his own when Pearce, JWH and Cordner return.

Played well. However first grade now is not the best thing for him.
He should be given some time in NSW Cup before making a fulltime fist of FG

Ive seen what it did to Mitchell Pearce, it will come back to bite us

Okay, but who will play fullback for us in the meantime?

Latrell was such a 'cat' when he ran over the top of 3 players to score that try last night 😏

Most games seem to hinge on whether Mitchell's moments of brilliance offset his mistakes.

I know he is 18 and don't blame him for having to cope with so much responsibility.

The rare times that we have looked remotely dangerous with the ball in attack this year have mostly been when latrell touches the ball, apart from one out individual breaks from players like SKD.

He is a beautiful footballer. At the game last night drunk and stoned watching him off the ball, and he was just so comfortable all the time.

                      Serious, serious class.

This kid is genuinly exciting and I look forward to watching him develop and following his career.

It's already been said, but I'd like to reiterate it - he is 18 years old, playing in a side that is certainly down on confidence, lost many key players during the off season, is missing their most important forwards and their playmaking captain. What he's been able to do in the past few games is still impressive and he'll be a pretty damn valuable asset to the team in 2/3 years.

I am blown away by people writing him off after 5 games given the circumstances.

The kid is a super talent. Could be one of the best we have had in decades.

No reason he can't be a Freddy type player and make us a powerhouse for many years.
Born and bred in the eastern suburbs.

Yep, what he's doing at the age of 18 with a handful of FG games under his belt is extraordinary. People seem to measure 17/18yr olds against the bar Freddy set back in 1989. But Freddy was probably the most naturally gifted footy player of the modern era so it's such an unfair comparison. Not to mention Mitchell is playing at fullback and against much bigger, stronger, faster and fitter athletes.

This kid has so much developing to do before he becomes the completely footy player - physically, mentally and skill wise.

If he truly wants it - that is, if he has the dedication that sets apart the greats - then he'll be an absolute marvel in 3 years.

Let's just hope we can keep him because he'll be fielding 1m+ offers by the next time he comes off contract in, 2019?
