You seem to have totally missed the point, and started an argument about a moot point that I don't give a damn about.

I'm not comparing the 2 sports!

I (and MANY others) enjoy both sports. Neither are better or worse... they're just different. Since they are VERY similar (ask somebody who's not an Aussie or Kiwi if you don't believe me) professionals are quite commonly successful in both codes. A recruiter would be daft not to occasionally look at the pool offered by the other code.

You with your constant winging about which code's better! I don't care which one you prefer, you cock!

Exactly, I used to really enjoy watching union on the TV, even the Club rugby on the ABC on Sat arvos.

But nowadays I can't watch more than 5 minutes at a time of any level of yawnion (as its now become) without switching over to something better - including the bloody A League soccer, which says a lot about how boring yawnion is nowdays.

Forget about watching the Tri-Nations, the full time scoreline is good enough for me. I'll be watching the a game that's far more entertaining and interesting - league, whatever grade.

Full time professionalism appears to have done more to kill the game of yawnion rather than enhance it.

Good, don't watch it, and stop complaining then!
I think we've already agreed to disagree on this moot point aaaaages ago...

League and Union have their fair share of good/boring games, and their own loyal fan bases, which keep their coffers full. Union's a better international sport (more quality from a range of countries), League's a better domestic sport (basically it's just Aussie ball, so we have the best stock on home soil)...

If Yawnion is in such a great way, why do they continue to recurit Leaguies, especially those whove played 9-10 yrs of 1st grade and wouldnt have played Yawnion since school maybe???

They also recruit alot of League contracted Juniors whove come thru U 20s and may miss 1st grade squads.

Only in Seth Efrekia do they have an abundance of Yawnion Jnrs, but of course they dont have League, gAFL or soccer to deal with.

The biggest myth ive ever seen is Yawnion is strong internationally. Sure its stronger than League is internationally, thats cos we dont focus enough on Test footy, something I personally think we do wrong in League. But to say its strong is rhetoric and self promotion and all Yawnion has really.

You can cry all you like about your Yawnion buddies but 99% of true Leaguies (And a growing number of Yawnionites) agree Yawnion is a snore fest and is going backwards. Crowds are down, TV ratings are down and Jnrs participation is down in Yawnion in Australia. In comparison League is the total opposite in all three categories in this country.

Besides that even Blind Freddo knows the intensity and impact on a players body is much tougher in League. Even Yawnion players would admitt that, if they had the balls to.

Stop shitting out your mouth arsemonkey. This is a League Forum. Deal bannana boat.

Exactly. Its like cricket. Forever playing internationals. I know people whinge about the decline of our international game, but in a way, I like that the games actually have meaning, quality not quantity, whether or not there are only 4 or 5 countries capable of really competing. Only a few players get to represent the green and gold. I like that league is our game sometimes, our domestic competition is far superior to rugby, cricket and at this stage IMO still soccer, who have yet to embrace the wider market the way league does.

                    • Union has got boring for 3 reasons;
                      1. thanks to professionalism, and money, this has enabled defensive coaches (often ex leaguies) to teach them how to tackle. A flat line, ie no 5 or 10 metres back and good defence....very hard to crack, this leads to infringements.
                      2. Referees imposing their will on the game, same happens in league a bit.
                      3. Nth and Sth don't agree on how to play the game, big problem.

Union is in trouble, no doubt about that.

A fair and honest appraisal IMO.

Im one who always enjoyed watching Test Yawnion, especially Bledisloe games. But to be honest since the World Cup out here, its become a real pain in the arse to me, the whole code. I guess it was so over exposed I just couldnt cop anymore shoved at me.

Also I believe Joan Oneill is an arseclown. He is always been praised as some sort of legend among administrators. Im yet to understand what hes actually achieved for Yawnion in this country. His ego outweighs his ability IMO. He reminds me of Kevin Neill, another Onion sucker.

I wouldnt take any of them mate, if I had the choice.

Id go for Inu or Gordon. In fact I reckon theyd both fit in well in our backline.

We need a goalkicker with pace and 1st grade expierence, IMO.

Mack give me their contract positions and their vital stats please mate. Even their condom size, I want to know if they sway or waddle, the angle of the dangle.
