  • Roosters board @ superbowl

Mark fennessey had Short interview with brandy and Vossy on SEN. He was with Nick who was also seen having dinner in LA with the scg trust chairman.

LA have started a partnership with Australia in an initiative to grow the nfl so wouldn’t surprise me if the chooks are training their next season….. the new stadium looks amazing!!

They love their NFL (as do the players) ay?

Not my cuppa tea but interesting. Wonder if much is gained from a sports management/performance perspective or if it's all just entertainment. I imagine their systems would be pretty tight compared with ours given the $$$ involved + their relative population.

I’m with ya issm. Not my game either. Probably because I still don’t understand it that well but I dont think it will ever grow on me. It’s too stop start and one dimensional. like all US sports, they have been adapted for TV advertising. Games like league simply will not work in the states for no other reason than advertising.

Get my NFL side the New England Patriots involved in promoting NFL in AUS and my MLB side Atlanta Braves doing the same for Baseball. You can't beat the Red White and Navy Blue

NFL is a great game as is Baseball

NFL isn't one dimensional though and if you think that then all sports are one dimensional as what is the object - beat your opponent by what ever scoring measurement is used in that sport.

Bit like someone on another site dishing Baseball and Championing Cricket - saying all they do in Baseball is someone throws the ball to a batter who tries to hit it . Cricket is a bowler bowling a ball to a batter trying to hit also though.

It is quite easier to follow NFL if you liken certain positions and aspects of the game to RL though. - the roles of the defense and offense in NFL are the same as the Roles the Defence and Attack have in League - the defence role is to stop the opposition from scoring and the Offence/ attack role is to score points etc.

Sure in NFL they have different defence and offence teams but the roles are the same as I mentioned above

Quarterback is similar to a League Dummy half/half both are trying to get the ball to their attacking/offense players - Quartersback's of course can pass or throw the ball in any direction and also run the ball like a dummy half/half in League can.

League has 6 tackle sets and NFL have 4 or as they call them downs - In NFL if a team makes 10 yards in these 4 downs they retain possession and the downs reset (another 4 downs)

Like in League on the last tackle in NFL they can punt the ball on the 4th down if they can't make the 10 yards to retain possession and reset the downs - difference in NFL is they have designated punters that come on as they do for the 1 point goal kick after the touchdown.

I actually like watching the NFL and the more I watch it, the more I like it.
Some of the guys they have playing in the NFL would be absolutely sensational in our game.
Only trouble is , they are paid $millions per season, and I doubt we could afford them.
They are truly athletes- a guy called Nixon from the Bengals had a pretty good superbowl game.
Put him in a Roosters jumper and he would cut through opposing forward packs, like a hot knife through butter

                  Yes, I am fully aware.
USD $40 million a season, for some quarterbacks.
USD $200 mill a season for a team salary cap?
And for some of the stuff they can do, they are probably worth it.

Joe Mixon I think you mean -free agency in 2025

Joe Mixon signed a 4 year contract extension worth $48 million with the Bengals on September 1, 2020. Mixon received a $10 million signing bonus which is the guaranteed portion of the contract. There is a virtually guaranteed option bonus due at the start of the 2021 league year. In each year of the deal there are $500,000 in per game bonuses as well as annual workout bonuses.

The MLB lockout shows no signs of being resolved.

Those dang Yankees are going to pursue Freddie Freeman once the lockout ends -wont go down well down south in Georgia if he doesn't re-sign with the Atlanta Braves - 6 year 200 mill US contract Freeman is seeking - Atlanta Braves offer was 5 year 135 mill US - So a fair way apart when the lockout started so no further negotiations can take place until the lockout ends

Yeah, I guess I could spot that the guy had some talent, just from the one superbowl game.

Enjoy watching ads with a bit of stop start chess with helmets thrown into the mix then.

I would rather the toughest game in the world and enjoy watching my mighty Chookies at the same time.

NFL is plenty tough - don't let the helmets and padding fool you that it isn't

RL is nowhere near the toughest game in the world though
