  • Do you support NRLW ?

The time has come the walrus said................

    What do we think?
I had doubts about adding the third option because I think it might do well, but consider the advantages of our club being represented this way.
I see on fox lots of promos showing Isabelle Kelly scoring and our girls celebrating their triumph..........it can only be good seeing more of our famous jersey on television.

On the down side, the only thing I didn't like about the grand final was when our winger came off injured.
It made me worried and sad.
I think of Tom Hanks saying "there's no crying in baseball"!!

In the end I think I'll answer in the positive.

Mum told me off after the 2004 grand final...there's no crying...there's no crying in grand finals...

I wonder if fans from other clubs who have womens' teams like Brisbane, St George, Parra etc are all carrying on about women playing on their forums? I must ask my friends/family who follow them..for goodness sake we are the premiers and should be proud of the women and what they achieved..

While women, and men for that matter, can choose to play any sport they wish, personally I don't like and won't watch physically combative female sports.
Not because they lack skills, but, and I may be considered old school, because I don't get any enjoyment out of watching women being physically aggressive with each other.
In saying that, I don't watch boxing or UFC of either gender and I see little entertainment value in watching someone beat the crap out of another.
          But, to each their own.

Some of those forwards could run afoul of Katherine Deves' genetic testing labs if Morrison and his bunch get back into power next month. Though I'd have one of them on the bench as an impact forward.

To answer the question, no I don't watch it. For the same reason that my great grandparents never watched a geek biting the heads off chickens in a sideshow.

If you go onto other forums the majority without an NRLW side want one - only the Dinosaurs are against it

NRL Teams that have applied for inclusion in 2023 - Cowboys/Raiders/Tigers/Sharks/Souths/Bulldogs plus you have the Warriors who will be re-admitted - Penrith were to apply in 2024 but I hear they will bring this forward since the NRL have indicated they will add 4 teams in 2023 - it was to be 2 each in 2023 and 2024.

Storm/Manly/Dolphins have also all indicated they want to have an NRLW side

I enjoy women fighting in the UFC because they have earned the interest of people.

                    There is a point.
In fact, it's more pointy than pointastic the prickly porcupine.

You don't like it when all your nrlw threads are sidetracked by other members distaste.............here they have a chance to vent.
If people dont comment here you can use that as a "point" against them when you start lots of threads on the subject later in the year.

Take it as a challenge................see if you can contribute without using the words "dinosaur" or "misogynist" ?

Anyway, I agree with your point that most fans of clubs that aren't represented would rather be in it.
                    I'm glad we are.

No. It’s a far inferior game to the men. Who wants to watch the number one tennis player in the world and then watch school kids play? But I will always support anyone in a Roosters jersey and was happy about the recent premiership.

Also can’t stand the sudden promotion of the game and the coverage and pretend hype it receives. I’d rather reserves get this hype and attention.

Yes, I’ve really enjoyed watching the last couple of seasons. At the start it wasn’t fun but now with the standard going up it’s become a lot more fun to watch. Roosters players are roosters players and I’ll support them.

I love women in sport personally. The pinnacle for me are probably the female jockeys who compete against the guys with as much skill, courage and toughness. Always in awe of them.

My Mum (92 years young) loves her footy, but won't watch the women's game. "They want to take over everything "...a generational thing I guess. But some obviously much younger gens apparently agree.

It's a feel good thing to watch women representing our jersey and club....for me.

I thoroughly respect the rights of women to play the game, and I will always want any team of any age group or any sex that is a Roosters team to win. I also love the fact that by playing the game a lot of girls will learn all those great things that playing in a team teaches you, like comradery, team spirit, being a good winner/loser etc etc

That said, I don't particularly enjoy watching the women's game, primarily due to the low level of skill on display when compared to the men's game. That's just my personal preference, nothing more. Maybe if I'd never seen the men's game, I'd be more interested in watching the women's game. Who knows.

People like King Salvo though, who has an ingrained belief that anyone who doesn't like the same things that he likes is inferior to him, or is simply "wrong", will say that makes me a misogynist or a dinosaur.

Of course he is a fool to believe that.

I don’t watch all the womens games and take a partial interest in Roosters woman’s games. Enjoyed their comeback against the broncos and of course the GF against saints.

However I also agree with an earlier point raised that all the hype and promos try to convince viewers that it’s such an exciting spectacle and I do feel it’s a manufactured hype…. We’re being told it’s there but I don’t really feel that it’s there…
