yea i agree totally. By that stage, the likes of JWH, Masoe, Maliota and Kennedy will be ready to go at first grade level so would serve as the perfect transition imo. I think we can still try and get the likes of houston maybe if we release mase at the end of his contract next year. Using the backended funds of mase to fund houston and maybe even glenn stewart or watmough could be a smart move to bolster our forward stocks with some quality and experience without blocking the pathway of some of our young blokes into first grade.
8. FPN
9. Jaubs
10. Ryles
11. Myles
12. Symonds
13. Maubs
14. Paea
15. Mase
16. Cherrington
17. Friend
Well balanced side that for next year. I have left him out for a while but I think under smith and with a full offseason at full fitness under his belt, jaubs can recapture some of the form that lead to us initially purchasing him. His toughness and defensive work is also important to our side post fitzy and his mongrel could be a key component up the middle. He is also very much in the de gois mold of hooker so i can see smith using him in a similar fashion.
With Ryles and Nuuausala playing as damaging and hard running wrecking balls and myles playing a little wider of the ruck almost as an extra prop but with less pressure will mean he can be more effective and do more defensive work. Maubs and Jaubs would combine well defending up the middle racking up the stats whilst symonds can play the creative wide running role down the right. Mase and Paea off the bench for some impact and experience which is something we have really lacked in our forwards rotation with cherrington and friend to come on as the two youngsters for some exuberance and spark.
Anasta would be more of a hinderance than a help in the forwards. He doesnt have the style of play of defensive workrate to play lock or backrow. As crazy as it sounds, id be keen to see carney play fullback and keep anasta and pearce in the halves. As i stated in another thread i think technically, carney has the speed, line breaking ability and instinctual support play of a fullback and most fullbacks these days play as second 5/8s so carney and anasta sharing second reciever duties could make us far more dangerous on the edges with the extra playmaking option from fullback. This is the best fit for our side. The backline for me would therefore look like this:
1. Carney
2. Graham
3. Perrett
4. Williamson/Linnett
5. Miniciello
6. Anasta (c)
7. Pearce
Plenty of speed and strike power as well as a good mix of youth and experience that also is a pretty good side in the defence stakes. If we have both anasta and carney at the club then this is our best option imo. Pearce to hooker is silly as firstly i am one of the few who seem to still believe this bloke has the potential to become one of the best halves in the game and we have friend who is the best young hooker going around as he has proven stepping up big time for an 18 year old in a position that usually boasts blokes debuting at at least 20 (de gois debuted at around the 23 mark, as did cameron smith and ennis was about 20 - these are the three best hookers in the comp which is testament to this point).
I don't like the fact that we replaced Morley, Nutley, Harrison, Tupou and Fitzgibbon with Myles, O'Meley, Mason, Kouparitsas and Conn, and we really don't need to cop any more garbage from other fans about it. These Dogs blokes aren't that good anyway.

Heard from a very unreliable source yesterday that Mason is GONESKI
Well a mate of mine who is also a Roosters supporter phoned me yesterday and told me he heard a caller ring Graeme Hughes on 2SM yesterday and state that Mason is gone and will not be at the Roosters in 2010. Possibly rubbish but I have everything crossed in hoping it's true
So it is all up to the club whether we want him or not.
The graduating NYC players from our 2009 team (who are too old for NYC next year) are:
- Robert Williams (backrow)
- Mark Talanoa (centre)
- Martin Kennedy (prop)
- Tom Symonds (lock/five-eighth)
- Sandor Earl (wing/centre)
- Luke Towers (utility back)
- Valeni Tia Tia (prop)
- Mose Masoe (prop/backrow)
- Dylan Sharp (backrow)
- Ben Murray (lock/backrow)
- Ray Tafokitau (centre)
- James Brown (backrow)
Kennedy and Masoe are both under contract until the end of 2010, whilst Tom Symonds is under contract until the end of 2011. We are in talks with Towers and Earl as far as I know, but the other players are as good as gone.
And just for a bit of further information, if you wanted to know the whereabouts of where our 2008 NYC graduates are now:
Anthony Cherrington - Roosters FG / Jets NSW Cup
Stanley Waqa - Roosters FG / Jets NSW Cup
Rohan Ahern - Roosters FG / Jets NSW Cup
Antonio Winterstein - Broncos FG
James Tamou - Cowboys FG / Northern Pride QLD Cup
Matthew Hall - Jets NSW Cup
Tu'u Maori - Jets NSW Cup
Javarn White - Jets NSW Cup > Balmain-Ryde NSW Cup
Alan Heldsinger - Dolphins QLD Cup
Dominique Peyroux (Titans NYC), Ben Cronin (Cowboys NYC), David Hala (Broncos NYC), George Vuna (Warriors NYC) and Brock Molan (Souths NYC) all left to join other teams this year, while Galu Te'o (QLD Reds ARU) and Daniel Randall (Windsor NSW Cup) would have still been eligible for NYC this year too.
No idea on where Hemani Moala (went to Parra, now nowhere to be seen), John Clayton or Fonua Fale went, and unfortunately we know all to well about what happened with Ulysses Fahina...
So it is all up to the club whether we want him or not.
