I have sources who are players in both the NYC and NRL squads. I'm not going to come out and name the players but they have been extremely reliable as they've let me know who have been signed for the NYC next year and they've been pretty spot on with it as well. Also they have been letting me know the situations with a few players such as Sa, Ryles and Carney. As I stated before, if you don't want to believe it, that's your personal choice but please do not come on here and ask me to reveal my sources. It would be unfair on the players to name them. I appreciate the news they give me and I try and relay as much as I can onto the forums for other supporters to know what the situation is.

We've also managed to sign Tony Barnes as NYC assistant coach.
I have a question for you if you'd be so kind and that is if you know what the "general feel" of the place is now that shittler and co are gone and Mr Smith is in the house. Specifically I guess I'd like to know if the players are on side with Mr Smith and are receptive to his presence and direction. Thanks in advance."The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."

Lone Rooster, the general feel around the place is that everybody is pretty supportive of Smith. I've been told he is not the really strict man the media make him out to be. They think he is actually pretty funny and there's lighter side to his personality. Although they commented on how impressed they were with his preparation as it has been immaculate and all the programs have been mapped out for everyday of the pre-season until Round One. The players seem excited and I was told apparently the coaching staff and a few of the senior players were very impressed with the attitude and transformation of Todd Carney. There's a certain buzz around the joint and that's great to hear, especially from the players themselves. They've also mentioned that the NYC and the NRL squads are a lot closer together this year socially because Smith has been encouraging all the players to chat with each other from both squads.
Horry, it seems Mason is seeing out his contract at the moment and IMO that's a good thing. He will be out to prove everybody wrong next season and I have a feeling he will return to his best.

I've no doubt players are 'coached' to sprout positive crap like that, but that doesn't make it any more believable.

It would be instructive to compare Smith's plans for pre-season 2010 to Fittlers for pre-season 2009 - that would make interesting reading."The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."

We've also managed to sign Tony Barnes as NYC assistant coach.
Fellow St George lower grader player and coach. Career path similar to that of his best mate Peter O'Sullivan.
Both left the coaching ranks at Saints and ended up at the Storm working hand-in-hand. Peter was based in Melb whilst Tony looked after the Storms juniors/feeder area on the Central Coast until the end of 2008.
Smith, O'Sullivan, Barnes......this combination has a St George feel about it but there is no denying their invaluable & allround experience.
We wish them well!
