Friend is better defensively than Radley IMO.
I was listening to the game, I'm in Nepal at the moment. So apologies if I get this totally wrong.
Did the match winner get scored with Friend off the field? I'm not saying it was Radleys fault, just asking.
I remember last year that Radleyshad a few defensive deficiencies. He was undoubtedly better in attack

please don’t go and make assumptions when you only listened to the game and didn’t watch it! Friend was horrible. As soon as Radley came off you saw our offensive tempo change right away, we marched up the field and scored in the first set of Radley being on!! Friend was horse sh*t. Fergo was great
Sure, Radley played a part in a good offensive drive. Did he play a part in the Tigpies comeback try?

I saw Reynolds crying in front of me after the game and yelled out 'WHAT ARE YOU CRYING ABOUT?!?!? GO SAY SORRY TO COOPER YOU GRUB!!!' He looked up at me with a pretty broken looking face.

Radley was off the field when the Tigers scored. Our try was scored 2 tackles after Radley made a run up the middle that saw him almost bust through but got the Tigers back pedaling. Friend didn’t run the ball at all but was credited in the stats as 2 runs for 3 metres.
The try was scored after Radley ignored Cronk on the left and threw a quick pass to the right where we had an overlap. A few minutes later and Friend was back on....

Robbo's very negative game plan is affecting the players ability to play the way they should and can and this was clearly on display again today in a rather uninspiring performance - I don't think deep down that any of the players like this type of game plan as it surely does not suit them or the team - Need to get back to play the Roosters style of Football again- attacking footy with strong defence - not the 5 hit ups and kick/hope and kick on 5th tackles and treating the backline like they have leprosy by not giving them the ball style of game play Robbo has developed or borrowedLast edited by King Salvo; 03-11-2018, 01:20 PM.

I just watched the game (thanks free Watch NRL trial). The set before Friend came back on, we were cut to pieces through the middle. What would you do? Put your best defensive player on.
After that, we stiffened up, and the Tigpies jagged a fluke try.
I watched Friend carefully through the game. He appears to have modelled his game on the Cameron Smith model of "take a few steps and pass, never get tackled". He is as slow as a slug, so no wonder he doesn't run from dummy half. This explains his numbers. He often stays alive and gets involved in second phase play close to the line.
I think he us doing the best he can with the attributes he has (on offense).
IMO the player that deserves criticism is Cornish, he was totally ineffective, and the turning point of the game was his kick out on the full.Originally posted by jism

To be a good dummyhalf (in attack) you need either great service, quick out of the play the ball area and good decision making. Of course there’s a few more but these are the first that come to mind. How many of these attributes does Friend have? His stodgy style of play isn’t suitable in this era.
