Stadiums normally last around 50-100 years, it is unheard of for any city to knock down both a 20 year old and 30 year old stadium. You have to wonder why they wouldn’t do the knock downs one after the other to keep the GF in Sydney. Well if you followed the money trail to get the answer. By all means to a complete overhaul of the interior and roof but this is a job to keep donors and important people in the media onside.

I'll bet any money that the main focus will be on the corporate boxes. Screw the Prols, this is about rich entitled pricks getting their pleasure. I tell you, if this country had any balls there would be a swag of people hanging by their feet from petrol station signs.

I found it diabolical the comments by architect Philip Cox in how he was trying to sidestep the issue of the stadium he designed that’s now being gutted and his lame comments to his appointed commission to build the new stadium, was for his team and he saying his role in it is in$ignificant.
Rather than public question whether a new stadium or not the question needs to be asked why appoint a dodgy architect hack whose works are often pull down jobs and why the same architect design the new stadium. Furtmore I wish the club owned its own stadium.

Sorry folks...not enough room or money to build a larger stadium at Moore Park on the SFS site.

ANZ Stadium is not going to be demolished.
The bottom section is going to be altered/renovated so as to bring the seating closer to the field or something....and more toilets.

Vote for Gladys...get a shiny new stadium.
Vote for Daley...get no new stadium.

Rugby league/rugby union/ soccer fans and concert goers should not need a degree from Harvard to figure out who to vote for.

I don't really care much for the politics of it.

I agree, this kind of project should be privately funded but big government wasting money... what's new?

They take such a large chunk of my pay cheque that they're always going to have to find some bullshit to spend it on.

As a Roosters fan and someone who frequents the ground regularly I'm excited to get a new stadium.

                Everything is political.

Trouble is...unless you vote for Gladys and her Liberal Party at the March election you won't be gettinga a new stadium at all.

                Privately funded?
Fans wouldn''t be able to pay the tolls on their seats.
If you elect a Daley Labor govt they'll then own the site and be able to do whatever they like with it...which will not be building a new stadium.

Think I saw on tv Daley wearing a Rabbits cap.
Maybe a new Rabbits club or Rabbits centre of excellence would be built on the cleared land instead of a new stadium.

I thought Daley was an Easts “fan”. Or was that the one before? They all blend into one, these beurocrats.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

                    1. There will be a stadium regardless of how the election goes.
                    2. You have never heard of a PPP? There's a massive contract up for grabs here and there's absolutely no reason why the state government should be footing the entire bill.
                    3. If the Libs had the cash to fund it themselves, they woulda signed the demolition and the building deals MONTHS back. Only a fool would believe their rhetoric that a vote for them is a vote for the Roosters, Tahs and Sydney FC. Truth be known, the Libs were probably looking for a PPP to fund it regardless. However, they didn't want to give people memories of their fukked up tram PPP that has put most of George st out of business.
                    4. The design is intentionally expensive and the whole setup of the deal is so that both parties can argue over what the best deal is gonna be for decades to come. The rushed demolition is so that Labor can't say 'we are gonna renovate the seating and toilets for $50 million and throw the rest of the money back into schools, hospitals, other entertainment'. The Libs want the grandstand to be Alan Jones v Labor's stadium plan. Truth be known... they don't even want a darn stadium and anybody who is truely from the right (and not just a muppet) would normally be of the opinion that public money doesn't get spent on entertainment. The public should pay for it and there should be a compeitive, free market for the construction deal.
                    5. If you wanna blame anybody for the mess then blame Stuart Ayres. He's just a muppet PE teacher who lucked out in an election and will most certainly be losing the seat of Penrith. He shoulda known better...

I wonder where the grand final and origin will be played because i don't think sanity will prevail here which means.1 origin in Brisbane,1 at the MCG maybe 1 in Perth but it will leave NSW without a home game which to me is a huge disadvantage. The grand final will go to Suncorp or the MCG huge loss of face for the nrl playing a rugby league final in the afl heartland so i reckon suncorp will get the nod.Broncos home grand final if they make it the winner in all this mess will be the Queenslanders they must be laughing thier heads off.

I don’t give a fark where we play the GF as long as we win.

I hate Homebush. I would never have moved our game out there.

My hope is they build a spanking new RL stadium on our traditional turf and we stop using Homebush period and we go back to Moore Park being RLHQ, on and off the field.

We can afford new stadiums. We are building the new roads and transport systems to get people around. Makes sense to me to build somewhere to watch our sport in comfort.

I don’t get the doom and gloom. We have been premiers twice in 6 seasons and are looking great for the shot at repeating. I am struggling to find the shambles of that.

Getting a new modern home ground sounds great to me.

Yep we are the Roosters, we deserve the best stadium possible.

The light rail is looking great.
Drove past it near the racecourse recently.
Govt made a mistake with the awarding of the contract...in my opinion.
Should pay proper compo to affected businesses.
But...at least Gladys is building infrastructure.
