Yeah but understanding on the basis of facts might be good. People are poles apart because of misinformation like your spurious claim that more whites are shot by police than are blacks. Since blacks make up just 10-15% of the population we would expect this to be true but the deaths per million suggest a different story entirely.
Who knows how many people you influence with this sort of rubbish. And with surveyed 85% of us having nil interest in politics, or in anything much at all really, you're seeding fertile ground - "Jax on the Roosters site told me and he knows a lot about it" - Substitute Jax with Ray and the gaggle of Murdoch wing nuts, all lying or making things up, and the larger "we" in the population have a problem, just look at the China phobic ratbaggery and the land buying paranoia on this forum, again, lies and distortions. Compared to US and British corporate interests, China holds a fraction. And the thing is that Aussies sell to them, they're not twisting anyone's arm. Abbott (Jax's mate) sold them the lease on Darwin Harbour, they're America's banker, they're no going away. [B
Racism is going lead to trouble and your kids will be in the thick of it.[/B]
Think the racism goes both ways me old mate . China really does think of us as a inferior people . Just because a Liberal politician leased them a Harbour doesn't make it right from me either . We shouldn't lease, sell to anyone who isn't a citizen for at least 10 years and pays tax here . End of story . See if you can buy or lease something in your home country of China if your not a Citizen or probably even born there . Can you please explain your fixation on us bowing and taking it up the rear passage by China and why you seem to think that is ok . Surely if you are truly an Aussie you don't want to be having some other country dictate terms to us . I get its good to trade with them but only if the deal goes both ways , it cant be a dictatorship .

Oh me too and it gets me into trouble all the time as I am an empath. I always say be kinder than necessary as everyone is going through something. That used to be my autosig on here years ago and it's never been as truer as it has been this year. I will wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Rooster1908. I've enjoyed meeting you this year and thank you for defending me where you have where necessary this year. I appreciate it. Someone else on here told me that you've been a good friend to them also so that is good enough endorsement for me.

Thanks Rwb and best to you and your family, it certainly has been a strange yet weirdly interesting year , .That friend of yours you mentioned has been extremely welcoming as has yourself and many others .Even poor old Pado I find entertaining but wish he would find a better way get his point across .It take all kinds and one thing I have learnt in my many years is that you never know what goes on behind closed doors and also don't know what people are going though , . Tolerance is the key and that's something I have learnt from my 27 year old daughter , who has a much older head on her shoulders than I had at that age .

                  • There you all go slappin' each uvver on the back again and for what I don't know. Certainly couldn't be anything to do with the merits of your opinions. 85% of Australians have next to no interest in politics or public affairs and that is reflected on this site for anyone who might doubt the figure. As I've said before, I'm not trying to have a conversation with a gaggle of drongos, youse are, thankfully in a minority.
Here's a bloke, me, trying to be uncontroversial, merely musing on things on a chat site which, last time I looked, was dedicated to free opinion (and some footy) - in my case, a search for reason and truth. Slaggin' off doesn't cut it. You need to do better than that fellas (and one Dame Sans Merci, but she can be cut some slack due to her basic and decent humanity not to mention the deep fear that I have of being accused of stalking).
So what have we got here? 3 or 4 blokes whose only reaction to reasoned argument is outrage - working class tories every man jack - which is understandable since at least two hail from Coonabarabran and environs and have been deeply affected by the bush tradition of habitual whinging - it's in the blood - the bush hasn't got this, hasn't got that, droughts, fires. floods, poor prices, not enough subsidies - never mind that the rural wealthy get the benefit of most of the Government largesse or that the ordinary carping punters themselves have voted for the political Party which has presided over the malaise for the bulk of the time since Federation. I mean it ain't rocket science. If you had the arse out of your pants in the regions you might be expected to support politics that actually deliver something like Medicare, preserving wages and conditions, the NDIS (with which the Nasty Party is already tinkering). Seemingly, too, they hate one another - a large bushie group used to rely on seasonal Fruit picking (and were good at it) until the growers chose to go with forced low wage backpackers who in turn are exploited by mendacious labour hire outfits. Some form of slavery seems to be the end game there...but that can't be right, isn't this is "Straya", the land of mateship and the fair go? The place for which '08 is dedicated flag waver and for which he will give his existence if need be, especially if the Chows are the target (some big ass target that one!).
No surprise really. Our mug bush boys contributed far more than their city contemporaries to the 60,000 dead and 300,000 maimed in the Great War to which they didn't have to go thanks to Trade Unions, but go they did for Empire and the local war monger, media owning rich who have lionised them as heroes in a cover up ever since.

                          • What about this Morrison fraud? "Look over there!" aided and abetted by the right wing MSM. Railing at a low level Chinese tweet that did no more than portray the sort of atrocity that our boys have been cited for doing in an ADF investigation. All for local consumption of course, the mouse that roared. Forget Robodebt and Gladys' badfinger to iso Scott who was evidently furious did not ignore the alleged war crimes, calling them “disturbing and distressing” after handing the bucket of shit to the military after little Winston Howard got us into Afganistan in the first place, but they were not quite “repugnant” and “utterly outrageous”, like the Chinese tweet was. And, unlike the apology Scott demanded from China, there was no prime ministerial call for anything in response to the war crimes revelations apart from his insistence that the armed forces chief back down from his initial call to strip citations from an entire army unit. On that last suggestion, Scott was quite upset too. The unfairness of it, you know.
Now they're out to lower the wages of those precariously employed and in the repulsively named "Gig" economy. Workers have soldiered through a pandemic with a wage increase for who knows how long and this is the reward? Gawd strike me!! If you're one of the 85% who are uninterested in politics, how much bullshit can buy? Without limit?

                              • Last time you said that your support for the Libs was about jobs (but not rip off jobs right?) and you also admitted to Green sympathies. So how does that work? You steadfastly support a bosses coalition that doesn't reflect your core values. What? Is there the hope they'll change and if the case is that that is highly improbable, you vote for them anyway?
I am not an ALP supporter - too many tame cat catholics and what not - but I prefer any progressive over the party of privilege and Capital. The ALP is not the Government, they have no power but a recounting of their policy achievements when in government clearly indicates which side they're on. And it's not on the side of a few who have $2m+ Super accounts and oodles of bank shares but still get "refunds" of taxes they haven't paid. Meanwhile there is a growing population of those who will never be able to afford a house. Maybe your kids are part of that group?
The guff that you read about China comes from the US courtesy of Murdoch and a cabal of right wing propaganda outfits here like ASPI. China wants to lead nations of the world to peace and prosperity - read about the Belt and Road initiative but not in our MSM, they're all frightened for their jobs. The Chinese have NO record of aggression going back centuries - again read someone unbiased on the recent border clash with India. The Indians tried it on once before, same result, but they have a Hindu nationalist leader who has committed numerous HR outrages in Kashmir which we never hear about. Like we never hear about the abuse of Palestinian human rights. Large numbers of them have been in camps since the 6 Day War.
