How could Gorbachev negotiate on their behalf re: the NATO Question and or tell those countries that left the Warsaw Pact/Soviet Union what they can and can't do when the gig was up.

Oh I know Salvo. I just found it strange that Paddo only just came to the realisation that the argument on this thread has become circular. I bowed out of the ‘debate’ months ago because it was becoming pointless and it felt more like a lecture than a debate. Even when I agreed with some of his anti Newscorp or anti US rants it was never good enough because I needed to be 100% agreeable with everything or I was still a sheeple.

What we've seen here over recent weeks is nothing like a 'win'. Conspicuously the same people cast doubt on the science of climate change, portraying it as a covert attack on the virtues of market capitalism, while boosting fossil fuel industries at the expense of investment in renewable energy sources. During the Morrison Government, conservatives in Parliament and the media confected Sinophobic responses to the rise of China on behalf of fellow conservatives in the US, damaging political relations with the planet’s new Great Power and Australia’s most important trading partner.

Much of this is driven by a repressed understanding that change is irreversible and resisting that is ultimately futile.
